The Delinquent - Chapter 22 (Final)

“Whose stupid, idiotic idea was it to go to Med School?” Chad huffed, slamming his textbook shut and throwing himself back onto the couch. “I'm done. Seriously. I cannot spend one more second looking at this stupid book.”

Savannah grinned as she untied her apron and climbed on top of him, with difficulty, straddling him on the couch. “I believe, that it was your stupid and idiotic idea.” She said with a grin. “Right before you made some comment about about you being a hunter, and me a gatherer.” She shrugged. “Or was it before the comment about the brides wearing white so they matched the rest of the kitchen appliances.”

He groaned. “I didn't realize I'd be old and grey before I finished school.”

“You're not old and grey.” Savannah smiled. “You're more middle-aged and distinguished. And you've still got a low-paying three year residency to look forward to.” Chad was approaching his final exams now, and Savannah and he had been together for going on eight years. Married for two of them. It had been one hell of a ride, but it'd been worth it so far. Between Kat and Bill, they'd paid for a college education for him, and he'd done well enough to be rewarded with a scholarship into Med School. Savannah had completed her degree in Marine Biology, but had decided to not take field work. Instead, she had gotten herself a job at the aquarium and assisted them in their research to rehabilitate the sea animals. She also lectured back at the college from time to time.

Chad sulked and covered his face with his arm, showing off his well toned muscles and the new tattoos he'd acquired over the last few years. Savannah realized that ink was an addiction to him, but she wouldn't have her bad boy looking any other way. “Evil woman. Get your arse off me and back into the kitchen.”

Savannah laughed. “No can do. Think I'm stuck actually.” She tried to shuffled backwards, but her large swollen stomach didn't allow her to do too much moving. Chad rubbed her stomach in response. How the hell she was still even moving around being so far gone with twins, he had no clue. She was a human blimp. Still sexy as hell he thought with a smug grin, but a blimp none the less.

“Just a few weeks left.” He said quietly. “When's Kat and Bill arriving?”

“Next weekend” Savannah said, relieved to have her mom close by again. Kat and Bill had moved down to the coast a few years back and left the house to 'the kids' as she still called them. Bill had converted Savannah's old room into a double nursery the minute she was past her first trimester. Chad had tried to help but honestly he got in the way more than anything. Home decor was not his strong point.

“Bonnie and Clyde.” Chad said suddenly. “Perfect names.”

“No and No.” Savannah chuckled, playing along. Chad thought of ridiculous names for the twins on a regular basis. Bonnie and Clyde was mild compared to some of the names he'd thought up recently. This week alone he'd come up with 'Slip and Knot' as well as 'Kurt and Nirvana' and 'Thelma and Louise.' Not knowing the genders was making it a good guessing game at least.

“Fine.” He said in a sulky voice. “But you can't call them William and Katherine. There's already a royal couple and the grandparents with those names. I draw the line there.” Savannah laughed as Chad helped her shuffle off from on top of him and pulled himself upright. “You sit. Relax. I'll do dinner.”

“You burn toast on a good day.” Savannah countered.

“Yeah well you're exhausted. I'm sure I can't burn down the house just heating up leftovers.” Savannah grabbed her stomach and winced, holding her breath for a few seconds. Chad put a hand on her leg reassuringly whilst the pain passed. “Put your feet up. Doctor's orders.” He added with a cheeky grin.

“You're not a doctor yet.” She said sticking her tongue out, but she obliged and allowed him to help her swivel around and put her feet up while he went to the kitchen. Chad was heating up a pot of bolognaise sauce when Savannah called him back to the lounge again.

“Honey? Do we have insurance for water damage?”

Chad scratched his head. “I have no clue. Why?”

“Because my water just broke. Over the couch. Bring a mop!” She laughed.

Hours later, Chad held a little squirming bundle in his arms with a shell shocked expression, whilst Savannah nursed a second bundle like a professional. Both wore tiny blue hats and had Chad's dark hair and eyes. Savannah wondered how they both didn't come with tattoos already, since they were already so much his clones. Eight and a half month's hard work and they both looked like Chad. Nothing like herself. Typical.

“No. We're not naming them 'Chad and Andrew ' so don't even think it.” She said with a knowing look.

“Was thinking 'Chad and Dru' actually, but close enough.”

“It's not happening.” She repeated. “You can have middle names privileges and that's as far as I'm going.”

Chad thought about that for a minute. “I can live with that.” He fell silent for a while, looking at the tiny miracle in his arms. “How about Michael and Gabriel?” He said quietly. “After the Angels? Cause they're kind of angelic looking right now.”

Savannah looked at him wide eyed. “Wow. That's pretty fantastic actually.” She nodded her agreement. “Michael Chad, and Gabriel Andrew Denver.” She kissed her bundle and checked the tiny wrist bracelet. “I have baby number two. So, hey little Gabriel.” She cooed down at him.

“So I've got Michael Chad, the firstborn.” Chad said, with a grin. “Hey Mikey.” He ran a finger down the baby's cheek and chin. “My name's Daddy, and I'm going to teach you how to be a bad boy and get the good girls.”

“Oh hell no, you won't!” Chuckled Savannah. “They're going to be a good boys, named after the Arch Angels, Michael and Gabriel. Wholesome and kind boys that good girls want to be with.”

Chad leant over and kissed his wife sweetly. “Sorry Princess, but this is Mike and Gab – the next generation of Denver Delinquents.”
