Addiction
The sergeant gazes at some pieces of certificates which are about to go moldy on the wall, “ Alas!” he talks to himself: “Such a pity !”
A police standing behind thinks the sergeant is talking with him, answers quietly: “ Yes, indeed !”
Hearing this, the sergeant turns around and gives the police a kick in his butt, scolds : “ No one talked with you, keep working!”
After 10 or more minutes, the police comes back, he gives his salute and reports: “The dead is 18 years old, male, initially judged as a suicide.”
“Is there any basis? ” The sergeant asks.
The police holds up a plastic bag with a diary in , saying: “ On the last page there are words of the dead .”
“ What did he write ?”
“ To put it simply, his long time video game addiction not only totally ruined his study, but also led to frequent squabble between his parents and divorce finally. After divorce, his mother committed suicide by taking pesticide. Observing his mother killing herself, his first thought is not calling the police, whereas, he thought he would have more game playing time ! The body of his mother had already stunk when he finally felt hungry.”
“ No way! When did his mother die?”
“ Last summer.”
“ Aren’t there reports about this case?”
“ There are some, but have all been held back by video game companies.”
“ Fucking video game companies!”
“ It also puts in this diary that after he truly realize the death of his mother, he ever determined to keep away from video games and find a job, but this plan only survived for as short as one day, he re-install the video games. He tried for thousands of times but all failed , he hated his own lack of perseverance and incapability, lived in self-contradiction and dilemma with extreme desperation and panic.”
“ Where is his father ?”
“ The father only coped with the legal procedures and then left him alone in this room again.”
“ Have informed him ?”
“ Yes, the father sounds quite indifferent, it’s surprising that he said : “I knew this would happen!”
The sergeant again turns to look at the certificates on the wall, shaking his head and sighing heavily.
