My story of how being open-minded led me here

path

First, let me back up a bit to the year 2014 when I was still working for a company. That was the year when I was first introduced to Bitcoin. I remember my officemates telling me about it and telling me to make an account on a website that rewards people with Bitcoins after performing certain tasks. I remember myself just feeling meh about it. I was like, "Bitcoin? What the heck is that? Isn't that a scam?"

I didn't bother to make an account as I thought it was a scam and a total waste of time. And that my friends, was a short story about my experience with Bitcoins. I never thought I would get involved with it in any way in the future.

Or so I thought.

But wait a minute! Hey Andy, I thought this story is about you being open-minded and how you got here on Steemit! How is your story about Bitcoin related to this?

Yes. Yes. It is. Just hear me out okay? Now to continue my story...

I was a close-minded person before

You see, I was a rather close-minded guy especially when it comes to technology. Not only that but also in how I live my life. Like whenever I eat at a restaurant, I would only order dishes that I am familiar with or have tasted before.

Or when it comes to movies, I would only watch certain genres that I like and not bother to try out movies from other genres.

Or when it comes to buying things, I would only buy from brands that I've gotten used to.

In short, I didn't like the thought of trying out new things or experiences especially if I find it too much of a hassle to start with. I wanted to be as comfortable as I can.

How I became open-minded

After years of working for someone else, around 2016, I came to the realization that that was not the kind of lifestyle that I wanted. I was tired of having to report to a superior every day. Of having to come to the office to do work for someone else. I soon realized that in order for me to realize what I really want in life, I have to be more open-minded. To broaden my horizon by learning new stuff and be willing to test other things out and be open for opportunities everywhere.

So I quit my job and went to work on our family business while at the same time looking for opportunities to earn some money online. Over time, I found out about cryptocurrencies. And I was introduced to Bitcoin again. But this time, I kept an open mind. I started learning how the world of cryptocurrencies works and I became interested in it. Instead of thinking it's a scam, I read up about the technology behind it so I can better see if it's truly a scam or not. Instead of dismissing it as a fraud, I asked some of my friends who knows and believes about the future of cryptocurrencies.

My thirst for knowledge

knowledge

While my interest in cryptocurrencies grew, I began investing in different kinds of coins. I watched videos about trading and even bought online courses about investing. And guess what I found on one of those courses?

Yes, that's right. I saw a video of @jerrybanfield promoting Steemit. At first, I wasn't interested in knowing about this social media called Steemit as I was focused on learning about investing. But the thought of being open-minded crossed my mind, and I decided to watch the video. And as you all know, the rest is history.

So that's my story of how my being open-minded got me here on Steemit! If not for me constantly looking for things to learn and experience online, I wouldn't have found this wonderful community!

If there's one thing I can say to all the people in the world is that it pays to keep an open mind! You never know a better opportunity whether it's for life or work or whatever is just around the corner!

Do you tend to have a close-minded view on things? Or are you an open-minded person?

Being open-minded is one of the most important things in life.

totally agree! thanks for dropping a comment and reading my blog my man from the future! :)

WOW!
I couldn't stop reading when I started reading this post. I agree with that. If you're close minded, you will lose opportunity.

What you are doing, that's fine and you're happy with that. How about if you get something that is better than what you are doing now? If you are open-minded, you will not pass the opportunity. Just try different thing. You will never know when you will discover something that might change your whole life.

Thank you my friend for sharing your story. Honesty speaking, I often check your blog to read your posts.

man i really appreciate you checking out my page to read my posts! and i agree with you too! if you close your mind to most things, you're gonna miss lots of opportunities and your growth stagnates! thanks for reading bro! :)

Nice post! Let's hope more people develop that open-mindedness like you did! Life is too short to report to a superior all the time!

exactly! :) i find that being open-minded is a crucial attitude to cultivate. thanks for dropping by! :)

Yes, glad you managed to get there!

Me too! I've decided to be open-minded at all times because I know it would allow me to learn new things from my friends/family which I thought it never had existed. Being open-minded also introduces a lot of possible opportunities for you all throughout your life. God bless you @andywong31! :)

Thanks for taking a read on my post yushaina! Exactly! I wouldnt have known people like you if i wasnt open minded! See you around! 😊

I’m generally very open minded but there is such a learning curve with technology, it’s hard to stay on top of things! I am just starting to learn about steemit and blockchain technology in general and I feel like Alice falling down the rabbit hole!!!

yeah everything starts from the bottom but once you get to a certain stage of understanding, it all comes together and the puzzle pieces start to fit and your mind starts to understand everything faster. the initial part is the hard part.. thanks for reading my post! appreciate it! :)

I like to believe I've got an open mind about things. I usually laugh at my friends when they order the same thing from a restaurant, every time. As long as it doesn't pertain to jumping from insane heights, I've got no problem trying something new. It's how I got hooked on sushi, how I've made some of my closest friends. Those who settle for the same monotonous things are truly missing out on the "flavors" of life.

yeah i totally agree! life is too short to only limit your options to what you are only used to. its best to try everything out atleast even once. there's actually nothing to lose by trying out different "flavors" but a lot to gain! :)

I'm the same way about heights! No way! But I too try to keep an open mind about trying new things

Loved your post! It's always important to try new things and to go to new places. You'll never know what you may end up being extremely good at~

exactly! i mean how else can a person know what he wants if he doesnt try things out right? thanks for the comment! :)
