Transition (An Original Poem) My First Ever Attempt!

in story •  8 years ago

I want to dedicate my first ever poem to my son, Isaac. I love you.

Transition

I remember the times we had
And how they used to be,
Love and laughter between us
Just you and just me.

Our time shared was either tremendous or sublime,
Quiet in each others company just marked time.
A few years on and bringing the new year in,
I realised what was missing, a less fortunate win.

It came to me slowly and I'll never forget the day,
I didn't see it coming,
I was so caught up in the fray.

I never imagined the wasted years,
And all the times that have caused your tears.
The shock was enough to make us reel,
But together we have the power to heal.

Our future will remain somewhat unclear,
But I hold on tight to all that I hold dear.
No more hiding and promises unmet,
This year will prove the best one yet!

This poem is my first attempt ever! Hang on, I think my Grade 5 teacher made us write a poem once... Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, My Teacher stinks and blah... or something like that.
