MISSION IMPOSSIBLE

Down the chimney he descended, she didn’t know if she would ever see him again. So she blew kisses, many of them. She didn’t know if he would survive his feat, the world from his two feet down the chimney. She didn’t know if they would like the fire, fire alight the second they saw him crawling, crawling down the chimney. Whether he would burn, burn alive, burn to the ground till he was just ashes crackling their way away amongst the timber and the coal.

Missions they were tricky, tricky they were indeed. The world flashed before his eyes, as he descended down the chimney. He didn’t know, he didn’t know if he would ever see her again. So he blew kisses, many of them. Together they’d been a team and a good one at that and if he’d lost, he’d lost that what would he be losing for?

Because losing is for losers and he certainly not one of them. And he’d seen fire, plenty of it. Hot fire. Hot hot fire. He was invincible, he was invisible and invincible, or at least that’s what he told himself.

Missions they were tricky, tricky they were indeed. Slithering down the chimney at 4 am, was definitely no exception. Exception to rules that were meant to be broken, broken, teared to smithereens. Teared till there was nothing, nothing left.

Because that’s all they were, nothing left of something so goddam special, they’d lost. They’d lost themselves, caught up within each other. Each others presence meant something for the other, but not for themselves.

Down the chimney he went, what was a loss to win? Down the chimney he went, what was the bottom to the top? Covered in soot from head to toe he met his bottom.

Missions they were tricky, tricky they were indeed. And he had only completed one part of it.
