The right type of ambition should not be the achievement of the highest alone or Position of Power in order to lord it over others, But must be type of Ambition to benefit the Society

The right type of ambition should not be the achievement of the highest goal in order to lord it over others. But before going further let me define an “Ambition”: Can be defined as an aspiring to attain a unique goal in life, such a goal may be the acquisition of a knowledge that will place the individual in a useful situation in life. We can still say ambition is therefore that desire, often unexpressed, which lead us to look to the future with a possibility of achieving something unique, something great and something acceptable within your society.

The right type of ambition should not be the achievement of the highest, goal in order to lord is over is over others. Many people want to be at top, not in order to serve, but to boss for its own sake. That is not the right ambitions. It is the wrong type of ambition to believe that a person can only be useful to society when he is the man at the top. Every little or more contribution help society to grow. This is why many people scheme their ways into position of power. This is also why some people mate-up with members of secret societies so that can get to the top for authority.

The top is a position of service and not of power. But man at the top should regards himself as the first servant, that is, as the prime minster, and not as the first master. The honour that he has is in being the first servant or the first among equal. Should any of you later become politicians or the boss in your country’s post office, or in the banks, or in the civil service, you should always that you not the first masters of the people but their first servants and a representative.

Our society tends to look down on certain vocations. Anyone who nurses the ambition to qualify for certain vocations will be looked down upon as a good-for-nothing fellow. What would you think if someone among you were to tell us that his ambition in life is to become a taxi driver, a farmer, truck driver, a beauticians, a funeral home director, a barber, a soccer specialist, a telephone operator, a poster clerk, a train driver, a professional pianist, singer, band leader, a public health worker (cleaning of drains, removal of refuse, corpses and in beauticians of the town, etc.,)? A typical human reaction to anyone who expresses such an ambitions will be a funny look on our faces.

Be we do not need to make fun, for each person who fellows the vocations I mentioned above has his or her own contribution to make the joy and health of the society. Our society cannot be a happy one without them, which of this six people is the most important and which is the least significant?

• A gynecologist
• A farmer
• An electrical engineer
• A motor mechanic
• A telephone operator, and
• A public health workers? Each of them is indispensable in our society. Every one of them has his own unique contribution to make to our society.

You can make a little contribution to make your society, believe in your ability. The right type of ambition should be a serve to great number of people in the society and to impact their lives positivity. There is no limit to what you can archive/accomplish.
