Once upon a time in Nepal, there lived a huge and gallant bird named Garuda. She had a mother named Vinata. Since childhood, Garuda taught to always devote to his parents.

Garuda handed over to a magic god at the top of the mountain to learn the science of supernatural powers. He studied diligently and succeeded in mastering the various supernatural powers. In fact, Garuda grows into a very powerful bird.

Garuda never lost in the fight. He always wins. In addition to magic, Garuda also be noble. He always helps people in trouble and defends the truth.

One day, Garuda heard the news that his mother, Vinata, had been kidnapped and enslaved by the serpent nation. Garuda immediately headed to the place of the snakes and met their leader named Kadru.

Garuda could not fight Kadru for fear that the snakes would hurt his captive mother. Garuda asked Kadru to release his mother. To that end, Garuda is willing to meet the requirements proposed by Kadru.

After a long thought, Kadru proposed a tough condition. Garuda should take amrita. Amrita is the miraculous water belonging to the gods that if drunk then the drinker will live eternally. Amrita is kept on the moon and is guarded by a hundred gods.

Because of his love for his mother, Garuda agreed to the terms. Garuda goes to the moon and meets the gods.

"I'm going to take amrita," Garuda said as the gods asked him the purpose of coming to the moon.

The gods are angry at Garuda's impotence. "How dare you come here and ask for our holy water!" said a god.

"I will do anything to free my mother," said Garuda.

Finally, the garuda fought with a hundred gods. Their fight lasted seven days and seven nights. Finally, Garuda managed to defeat the entire god with great difficulty.

After getting amrita, Garuda took him to meet Kudra. Initially, Kudra was surprised to see Garuda successfully perform its duties.

Kudra also kept his promise and release the mother of Garuda. The serpents then took a pitcher of holy water amrita. Before enjoying the holy water, they decided to take a bath first.

After the shower, it turns out the jug containing amrita has been lost taken by the God of India. All that remains is the sprinkling of holy water in the weeds of the weeds.

Then, the snakes scramble to lick the splash of holy water. As a result, their tongues slashed the sharp edges of the weeds and became bifurcated. Since then the snake has a branched tongue.
