Day 5

Day 5: 7:00am Dec 14 - Thursday

It snowed all night and i had to get up 2 times to clean my shelter off as I feared it would collapse from the weight of the snow. Plus the wind is blowing so hard I am having a hard time keeping my shelter from blowing away.

When it is light enough out I will walk out towards the truck and do some recon work. I can’t see anyone trying to walk in this storm. But if there is people out there it might be nice that talk to them. I feel as though my snowshoes will be fine to wade all this snow but my sleds will just sink in the deep snow. It was a battle to get them in here and we have easily received an extra 12-16 inches of fresh snow.

I have been thinking it might be a good idea to settle down here and rest for a day or two. There seems to be lots of wild meat in the area and there is lots of snow to melt into water. Plus there is only 9 people maximum on this road. No one will ever come down here till who knows when, if ever. The closest house to me is about 100kms away. I have a major decision to make. I know the other guys in the group will have to ditch their sleds if they want to get through the snow. Which means they will be running low on supplies.

Notes to self:
#1 - boil more water
#2 - check deer carrier and make sure every bolt is tight
#3 - if am staying for a few days to rest and rehydrate I need to set some snares and traps
