Whilst investigating the death of a local mechanic, an adorable police officer called Sarah Noris uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, ribbed guillotine circulating throughout Wales. As soon as anyone uses the guillotine, he or she has exactly 24 days left to live.
The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look upside-down. A marked person feels like a squat toad to touch.
Sarah gets hold of the guillotine, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into her mind: a carefree snake balancing on a solid mechanic, an old newspaper headline about a catapulting accident, a hooded donkey ranting about lips and a drinking well located in a crowded place.
When Sarah notices her feet have toad-like properties, she realises that the curse of the ribbed guillotine is true and calls in her grandmother, a actor called Rhiannon Greenway, to help.
Rhiannon examines the guillotine and willingly submits herself to the curse. She finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. She finds the carefree snake balancing on a solid mechanic particularly chilling. She joins the queue for a supernatural death.
Sarah and Rhiannon pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded donkey. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
