When family is complicated let’s stick together #IMHERE

Hi guys, it’s me edouard’s boyfriend, he really liked something I posted on one of my Facebook groups and thought I should share it with you guys. Let’s make #IMHERE a thing!

I get so on the verge of weepy at Christmas. It's silly, but this time of year makes me realize how lucky I am to have made a life for myself. I'm not rich, or wildly popular, but I am safe and loved.

I left my "family" at the age of 14 a few days after Christmas because they were abusive, and when I came out it made everything worse. I spent 3 years alternating between homelessness and government care (It was the 1990's).

But with a strong will to survive I slowly built a new life and eventually a chosen family for myself.

To anyone in the closet or feeling alone, afraid, or sensitive this holiday season... My heart reaches out across the miles. You will get through this holiday season, I promise.

I hope love and support will find you this coming weekend. If not IRL, then here, in this group.

Anyone who wants to make themselves available to chat and support those in the group who may be feeling down comment "I'm here" below.
