Thanks for An Awesome Time Down in RotterdamsteemCreated with Sketch.

Phew! What a time I’ve been having! Just over three weeks ago to the day was the awesome Steemfest and shortly after that, a trip over to Rotterdam to go visit @exyle and @bkdbkd!

I think it would be fair to say… “Life is Steem”, lol!

Just to quickly break it down, this extended weekend spent with these amazing people was not originally on the cards. As with last year, it just so happens that my birthday falls right after the Steemfest (I can see this easily becoming an annual order of events now, lol). But my lovely wife @rea planned this meetup in secret with them both. That surprise couldn’t have been greater. As quite a few people have seen already from @exyle’s daily posts whilst we were out there, the fun never stopped. I know it’s weird, but it felt like I was with them a lot longer than it actually was. Though I put that down the incredible hospitality we received throughout. It was memorable to the max.

My mother always used to tell me something which didn’t mean much at the time, but now cherish with all my heart. That being the fact that money comes and goes, but it’s those special memories we collect throughout this crazy ride called life, that will mean everything to us in the end. There will come a day for us all when the chase for that coin (be it digital or fiat) or whatever personal long-term objectives we set for ourselves, will be a thing of the past. Thinking about the sheer truth behind that future prospect really keeps me grounded. It doesn’t allow existence to simply turn into some elaborate automated daily process with us constantly reaching out to some higher, self-imposed life’s purpose or achievement, that may never actually be fulfilled after all. I’m a firm believer in “carpe diem” and it seems to have served me well so far.

And that is exactly what we did out in Rotterdam. Creating good times and soaking up the atmosphere. The last month has been quite stressful for me so to unwind in this unexpected way was a true blessing. Gotta say that @bkdbkd is an awesome person too. My wife and I felt so at home that at times it was as if I truly was “at home”, lol. Bless that girl. Yeah, it’s safe to say that these visits to one another will only get more frequent the longer we know each other. And to think, how coincidental our meeting initially was at the first Steemfest. My wife and I happening to miss the boat trip to the main venue on the first day. Then ending up getting there early and bumping into @exyle. Had any other variable changed, things may have turned out very differently. Who knows, but one of the “happiest accidents” I’ve ever had the pleasure to have!

So yeah. Really, this post is my way of solidifying an unbelievable experience on the Steem blockchain as a reference to an incredible memory. I gotta hand it to you both, @exyle and @bkdbkd. Thanks for helping create one of the best birthday’s I’ve ever had and providing such a comfortable environment for us to stay in. I know you guys will be coming back over to London shortly so it goes without question that this is something I’m already looking forward to immensely.

To strong friendships and ever-lasting bonds… Bless you both… Until the next time. :)

Bless you, @bkdbkd. Such a sweet person. We both feel exactly the same and thank you again for the amazing time with you guys. The trip for you guys out there can't come sooner. I'm already preparing a list of places to take you to so get ready for some more fun times! :)

You are putting more and more effort in the formatting.
Looks like you have a fun time. A bit late but... Happy Belated Birthday

Thanks, man. And I really appreciate the birthday wishes. :)

You're welcome

Yesterday I spoke to Mark and he told me how much he and Bianca had enjoyed your visit. I also read his posts, so I knew what program Mark had set up for you. I'm pleased you and Rea had a great time and I know this will not be the last visit!

Hey @clio! Most definitely, we all had such a blast together. The only downside to the trip was not meeting you, although as you say, this certainly won't be the last time I'll be in Rotterdam. I hope you are feeling much better and look forward to seeing you in person in the near future. :)

Hey @ezzy,

I'm so glad you had such a good time with @exyle. I always say try to make the most out of life and life will take care of the rest. Great recap. Now looking forward to some more writing from you soon.

Hello @myb,

Yeah, it was amazing (and that's an understatement, lol). But I hear your words and they speak volumes. Be happy and live free. Every waking day should be considered a gift to be used as productively as possible. And yes, I'll resume Hellbent shortly and get back to finishing it up. :)

Wow!!, I really like how you and rea rock things over there, I know you have a good time with exyle and bianca, because mark is a person which is kind of caring and even a good cook. I also saw all the place your guys visit on exyle blog, wow!! it really great.

Steem has really opened up a new world to a lot of people. And your story is just of many recently. It looked like you guys had such an amazing time. Too bad you live so far apart...

The "ripple effects" of Steemit are astonishing. And we are actually only less than an hours plane ride away from where we both live. So not too bad when you look at it that way. :)

Scrap the plane man. We are coming by train in January! I can't wait. Only 4-5 hours!

Oh mate! That was such a great find, man. So yeah, "luxurious travel" is the way to do it next time. :)

I think that would be an awesome trip by train and through the chunnel.

Wao So Great
