Up in smoke
I could smell the cooking of potatoes on my ride today and thought to myself that the nearest snack shop is too far away to be responsible and noticed this plume of smoke billowing out from this potato farm.
All emergency services were on the scene, with a particularly heavy presence from the Fire Brigade, as expected. The story I later received was that a Tractor caught fire, which then spread to the storage area and then onto the whole right hand side of the Farm. It is reported that the fire caused millions of Euros of damage, so this must be devastating for the Farmer.
It is highly likely that the potatoes destroyed in the fire, would have come from this potato field you see to the left of the photo.
God Bless him and everyone affected, I hope that he and the family can recover from this.
Sad day.
That is so sad! I hope they had insurance and can re-build. You just never know what might happen from day to day.
