Welcome To The Steemit Story Chain

A massive hello Steemers and welcome to the fourth Steemit Story Chain where you write the story. The contest is now in its fourth week and I am very proud to be sponsored by the amazing Whaleshares team. I want to thank all of those who wrote in last week's story and so I must give a big shout out to @mikepm74, @dreamingirwin, @krazykrista, @nikflossus, @chuckyfucky, @cryptojake and @thatindianlady.

The quality of contributions continues to impress and the decision is provingly increasingly tough because so many of the story parts are extremely well written. This week was in actual fact the toughest and me and @blueskieson-mars, the second judge on the panel, had an extremely tough choice. Anyway we have now come to a decision.

@thatindianlady

The part contained great detail and gave us a real change in direction for the narrative, as well as changing the genre from a mysterious and sinister story to a romantic one - who'd have thought it?! Anyway you're the winner of the Steemit Story Chain #3. You have won 100 Whaleshares. Please reply with your Bitshares account information and I will send the Whaleshares to your account immediately. Enjoy! If you don't have an account don't worry it's very simple and completely free to set one up here - https://bitshares.openledger.info/?r=akrid-1.

If you want a reminder of the winning entry, @thatindianlady's part of 'Derailed' is here:

"It's simple really. Mr Thompson, I want you to kill someone."................said the lady from behind when I boarded the train and sat on the seat. I turned while shaking in fear, as if she is a ghost? Suddenly her eyes turned Red and she started laughing like a "WITCH HUNTER".

MY SLEEP BROKE, I WOKE UP WITH HEAVY BREATH, realising, the boy fainted me with methanol after handing me the letter and I just had the worst nightmare that could have given me a heart attack, I quickly opened the letter with a snap of eyes. The letter read :

"Get Down on the last station, this train is destined to, and show up on address :

Hotel Park Plaza,
34, Carls Street,
Texas"

Startled in fear, I could not decide whether to go to the address mentioned or take the train back to home. Thoughts of going back to the office literally annoyed me and I decided to face what is about to come. The last station came, I got off, took a taxi to the hotel Park Plaza. Just when i went to the reception, the receptionist asked "ARE YOU JAKE THOMPSON?" . With feeble voice, I replied "YES I AM". She said "Sir Please take the lift, and we have our restaurant on 14th floor, terrace area, someone is waiting for you there."

Listening this, totally confused, a bit shaken in fear, I took the lift imagining if someone would throw me from the terrace restaurant and kill me if I say NO. 14th floor came, I took a deep breath and went ahead, MY FAVOURITE MUSIC STARTED PLAYING. A rain of Rose petals started. I see my girlfriend SAMMY waiting for me, wearing a red dress looking more beautiful than ever. A BIG SIGH, seeing no one is killing me, no witch lady there.

I collected my voice and said "SAMMY WHAT YOU DOING HERE?" She put her index finger on my lips and asks me to stay quiet. Lights got dim. We were in the spotlight. Sammy took out a ring from nowhere and said "WOULD YOU MARRY ME JAKE?" Smiling with tears I replied, "of course I would and hugged her tight." Lights turned on. Just when I was about to narrate what happened with me in my dream while I was coming here, a heard a gunshot...............people screaming on the roads................

Now moving on to this week's new story chain entitled An Innocnet Man Betrayed By Guilt, if you wish to take part you will first need to upvote and resteem this post. After that it is all down to you and your imagination. Take the story wherever you want to, be creative and ambitious. Develop it in whatever style you want. Flex that underworked creative muscle you have. And have fun. Remember to number the part you are writing. Don't forget your part of the story chain does not have to be long, a short paragraph is sufficient.

So here it is, the first part of An Innocent Man Betrayed By Guilt.

Here I was sat in the public gallery of the courtroom. A free man. And there he stood, in the dock. The man I knew to be innocent. A man who I could prove was innocent, yet I'd said nothing all along. The police never once questioned me. Even though I was the man who should be on trial and standing in that dock. I was the one who had done it, not this poor guy. They had got the wrong man, thankfully. They had framed this man for murder when they knew damn well it wasn't. If he was found guilty I would feel bad, very bad. But it is extremely important my work continues. The jury enter, they sit. The Clerk stands, 'Would madame foreman of the jury please rise?' she says authoritatively. A pretty and petite middle age lady stands. The Clerk asks, 'Have you reached a verdict upon which all of you are agreed?'. 'Yes' she says. The Clerk continues, 'On the count of murder laid before Michael Anthony Simpson how do you find the defendant, guilty or not guilty?'

'Neither', said the foreman.
There was a murmur throughout the public gallery.
'I'm sorry,' said the Clerk. Please repeat that.
'The defendant is neither guilty nor not guilty,' said the foreman.
The clerk looked up at the judge who was frowning. The judge cleared his throat.
'You are telling me that you, the jury, collectively, can find this man neither guilty, nor not guilty? That is your position.'
'Yes,' said the foreman.
'I shall require you to explain yourselves,' said the judge. The foreman turned and mumbled something quickly to the rest of the jury. There were some rapid whispers. The foreman, listened, then turned back to the judge.
'We cannot explain ourselves,' said the foreman.
And to my utter utter astonishment the jury rose and filed silently out of the courtroom...

In those fleeting moments, it was as if chaos had descended from the heavens into the courtroom. The judge and bailiff were struggling to control the noise arising from speculative chatter while still coming to grips with what had just transpired. I knew without hesitation what I had to do to alter the course of fate before the chance to remedy my silence evaded me.

Calmly retrieving my pistol from an inner pocket, I made my way to the front of the courtroom. It wasn't difficult at all to slip a surprise by the guards and metal detectors out front. After all, it was one of the first tests for a special field agent. Rudimentary truly, for one in my line of work.

Before the bailiff has time to react, I aim the pistol at Michael's heart while gaining a stance behind him. He's shackled, so getting him out of here might prove to be a bit of a challenge, but I know my way around a crisis situation undeniably.

"What the hell are you doing?" Michael barks.

"Saving your ass and likely my soul."

Out of the corner of my eye, I see the SWAT team arriving around the corner of West Haven Blvd. It was now or never. Time to cut a trail...

Whale Shares. Seems like the best thing ever. If I just had one whale share then could I be called a whale? What really is a whale anyway you know?

It was by was by pure luck that the guard, ordered by the judge to escort Micheal out of the choas in the courtroom, ran back in to assist a fellow officer who found himself in the middle of a brawl between two opposing families. Yet I knew we had to act quick. That type of luck was most likely not going to occur again. As the swat team made their way around the rotary, I grabbed Micheal and quickly made our way through the alleyways. The sounds of police sirens echoed all around us. In fact I could hear one approaching towards us.
Just then a police cruiser came flying around the corner. I grabbed Micheal and pushed him behind a clothes donation bin, as I grabbed some of the clothes scattered around the bin and pretended to load them into the shoot. Following behind the cruiser was a white box truck that hastily pulled into the parking spot next to the bin. The driver jumped out of the truck clenching his groin and ran into the building, leaving the motor still running. I looked at Micheal, who's face was pail with anxiety, and yelled let's go. I ran around side of the box truck and got in. Micheal was barely able to make it into the truck as I put the truck in reverse headed down the back streets.

I couldnt help but think " How the hell did I get here" I realized that I was never really a good driver. Backing out of the alley took all my concentration and when I hit the steet I was relieved that I didn't crash into any cars. Micheal was shouting at me . " Are you out of your mind? Who the hell are you? Stop the damn truck and let me out now. I showed him the gun once again and told him to just sit there and shut up. I needed time to think. I had to focus. The truth was, that I had no idea where we were going , or what the plan was when we got there. I turned to Michael and said. " I know your inocent. I am the one that killed that poor woman. ". Michael looked at me with a twisted look on his face. He looked angry and I was comforted that I was the one holding the gun. I said " I am so sorry. I had no choice. You have no idea who she was and what she was planning to do. They are planning something terrible and I am the only one that can stop them. I had to let them think that you were the one that killer her." He just looked at me with a blank stare on his face. " Listen, just give me a chance to explain things to you and then I will let you go if you want. The way I see it is that you have no place to go and I could really use your help". I took a deep breath and hoped that he would understand." So here is the story from the beginning"
