GIVING IN HUMILITY

So this lad walked up to me this morning. Said he was in JSS 3 and narrated how his mom was having financial troubles and he needed to pay some fees in school. I was moved so I told him to wait. He followed me and waited just outside the building while I went in. At the same time, my neighbors came out to do something exactly where the lad stood. I came out and then handed him some amount of money and this lad went on to prostrate and thank me continuously; I promptly told him to get up (my neighbors also told him to get up).
Now this would have been a story of how God used me to help one in need, but NO! After he left, I was pricked in the Spirit. Why didn't I take him aside to where my neighbors were not watching? I wanted men to see me. I wanted the glory. I allowed flesh to rule. Immediately I received that condemnation, I asked God to forgive me for not handling the situation better.
So, this is a story with one prominent lesson: HELP THOSE IN NEED BUT "let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth." DON'T DO LIKE I DID.
