HardFork Trailer: That's A Wrap!

in story •  7 years ago  (edited)

With SteemFest2 less than two weeks away, we’re right on schedule to deliver an exciting, professional-grade, teaser trailer for you in Lisbon!

Director, Doug Karr, actors, and crew were hard at work this past week completing the principal photography. For those who aren’t familiar with film jargon, principal photography is the phase of film production in which the movie is filmed, with actors on set and cameras rolling, as distinct from pre-production and post-production.

We filmed in a variety of locations around the New York City area this past week and are happy to report that the results have far exceeded our expectations.

Our team is excited to give you this glimpse of our teaser trailer that will be screened in just a few weeks! Fantastic on-set stills courtesy @strangedove and @andrarchy.

Star, Christopher Baker ( @bakerchristopher ) pausing for a dramatic moment of reflection.

Elia prepares to walk by sexy robots entertained by the elite in our first large scale green screen process shot.

Elia Monte-Brown preparing to break free from her restraints and inflict well-deserved punishment on some bad guys.

These adversaries laying motionless on the floor of the CFS’ Recognitioning Center were no match for Elia.

Erinn Ruth, donning augmented reality tracking marks and delivering an amazing performance, right on cue.

Question For The Director

The art of filmmaking requires such a multifaceted skillset and the creative process is as fascinating as it is complex. We took some time out of HardFork Series director, Doug Karr’s ( @dougkarr ) frenetic schedule to learn more.

Q: You had an incredibly hectic shooting schedule this past week. What's more fun for you, the filming or the editing phase of this process?

A: I love both...but for different reasons. In editing I have total control and can spend as long as I want molding the clay. Directing is amazing because you have to be right there in the moment as it's happening and if you miss an opportunity it's gone forever (or at least till the re-shoot ;-) but that is also when the magic happens and that can be stunning and amazingly fulfilling. It's a battle against time, but the more you're completely there and the cast and crew are cooking along with you the better everything works and the more fun you have in the process. Over the last five production days on the HardFork Teaser Trailer, I had the immense pleasure of being surrounded by hugely talented artists who were all striking it out of the park, so that made my job of harnessing serendipity pretty easy!

We hope you enjoyed this glimpse into the progress of creating our teaser trailer! This next week, Doug and team, will be steeped in the post production phase of the trailer, editing the footage shot this previous week and adding special effects.

Thank you all so much, Steemit community, for the continued show of support for our project!

A thrilling first 5 days of production for a project I'm hugely excited about with an unbelievably talented decentralized team and an amazing cast and crew here in New York. Life is GREAT!

Great job, Doug! I agree, life is great!

Doug, great comments about the film making art, thinking about it more it is so multifaceted and every step is a key ingredient or opportunity in an organic and flowing process. Thanks for letting us step behind the scenes and explore the process. UPVOTED // RESTEEMED !!

Thanks @clumsysilverdad... as a silver dad myself now it's thrilling to look back on a 20 year career as filmmaker and realize what a lucky thing it is to get to be on set and help conjure magic out of thin air.

Wow, this is hugely exciting! I can't tell you how many foot rubs I've given my husband this year for discovering steemit and encouraging me to give it a try haha!! I not only found an outlet for my writing, I found a whole global community of incredible, creative, talented people, and on top of that I feel like I'm on the cutting edge of something so big it's hard to fathom. And now I get to witness the beginning and the process for a series that could rock the world!

Yes this really is so exciting!

Hooray, I think my comments are finally going through! I've been trying to respond to yours since last night and getting so frustrated, LOL!

So I told @everlove that in the spring we are going to the ozarks to visit @therealpaul and probably see other people in the area, like @papa-pepper. After that we want to come down to Texas, we have a couple of friends who live there and then I really, really want to come to the Garden of Eden and see you guys!!

Wow!!!

Sounds like an AWESOME adventure!

Be in touch as the time comes and most likely will host you in EPIC FASHION!

Oh what an opportunity!

Blessings~*~

Thanks for the insight into the diversity and "magic" of filmmaking, both on set and in the studio, Doug!
Best of luck for the next steps, I bet it will be great!
Also thanks to @hardfork-series for keeping us posted :-)
