Last night, I saw Fedor Emelianenko vs Matt Mitrione AND Chael Sonnen vs Wanderlei Silva LIVE at Madison Square Garden NYC!! Bellator!!!!

Let me recollect/review what I saw last night at Madison Square Garden for Bellator's fights.

I've never been to a live MMA before, so I was super excited for the event. As a martial arts practitioner (I do BJJ), I couldn't wait to see Fedor, the Last Emperor, whose punches have knocked out multiple opponents, to say the least. Just check out some of the highlight videos of him back in the Pride days and stuff. They're incredible!

Never have I felt so ambivalent about the fights though. I sort of want older people like Fedor and Wanderlei Silva to stop fighting, as I don't want to see them lose brutally. I want them to stay good in my memory, you know what I mean??

1. Fedor Emelianenko vs Matt Mitrione

The fight did NOT last long. In a minute or two into the first round, something incredible happened. Both of them punched at the same time and got each other in a right hook, to which BOTH of them were knocked out to a certain degree. A momentary double KO!!!! Unfortunately for Fedor, he was knocked out much worse than Matt was, so Matt managed to get up in a moment and finish Fedor off. I felt like Fedor's older age might have been the issue here, because one tends to get knocked out faster with an older brain. His punches still seemed pretty stellar though.

The whole fight reminded me of a Western gunfight. There wasn't much happening until that moment, to be honest. They were testing out the waters and faking punches here and there. Only in a matter of seconds did literally one big punch came about from both ends, and the fight was finished.

2. Chael Sonnen vs Wanderlei Silva

Sonnen took Silva down and went for ground-and-pound, which Silva tried his best to deflect. That was basically the fight for 3 rounds. A bit uneventful. Sonnen won by decision.

3. Madison Square Garden

Budlight was 12 bucks. A decent meal was 20 bucks. Expensive. That's how they make money, right?? :ooo

PS: Ring girls

Of course, they're hot and everything, but I was more marveled by how sweet their gig is. I mean, they just walk around with a ring plate and smile at the camera, and I bet they get paid pretty decently. Not to discredit their effort and everything though, of course. I wonder how they got into the business??
