Hello friends,
How is you Saturday? I hope you are having a great day. Today, for the first time, me and my partner tried using Scooty, electric scooter sharing in Brussels. I was super excited because this was my first time ever riding a scooter in Brussels after 2 years living here. Well, I was actually just a passenger, but still, I was super happy. I used to riding scooter back then in my home country to go everywhere. It's one of the main transportation in Indonesia, without scooter or motorbike, it's quite difficult to move around. Our public transportation is just terrible.
My partner was discovered Scooty last year but they covered a very small area around city center only. So we didn't try it at that time. Then last week, we were surprised seeing one Scooty parked next to our home. After that we did check the website and good news, they are now covering more area in Brussels city, including our neighborhood which is very great :-)
It took a week for them to validate our account. We had to provide the photos of identity card as well as driving license. My partner got his account validated yesterday, so earlier today we had a chance to try it. We went to Indonesian Embassy for Belgium because there's Indonesia Bazaar where people sell loads of Indonesian food and crafts.
We tried two types of Scooty, the black one (I dont know what type of scooter is it) and the red one (Vespa-style scooter). The black one wasn't too comfortable especially for the passenger. Since I am not tall, it's hard for me to reach the foot rest. Unlike the black one, the Vespa-style was very good and comfortable for both the rider and the passenger. I love the color and the style as well :-D My partner, the one who was riding both of the scooter prefers also the red one.
How does it work?
As with shared cars, bookings will be made on an application form. The customer registers, locates the nearest scooter to them and books it. They will then receive a code which they can use to start the scooter. You don't need to have a full licence to use these electric scooters. However you must be able to prove that you have successfully completed the driving theory licence.
Electric scooters have a capacity of 100 km and a maximum speed of 45km/hour. There’s no need to recharge the battery. A scooter where the battery has run down will be transferred back to the depot.

How much does it cost?
They are currently giving a promo for registration. It's only 1€ instead of 25€. The rates is 0.25 cents per minute and you pay as you go. You will receive 20 minutes free riding once registered.
Here is a sign up code using my partner's reference : iX0aHpDR
We dont know what is your benefit if you use reference code from a friend. It's not stated anywhere. But normally we should receive more benefits from that.
IMPORTANT NOTE
After re-reading the FAQ of Scooty, we discovered that you cant carry a passenger with you. It's quite strange because they provide two helmets. We'll send them an email to get the confirmation about this. I'm sad to know that we did break the rules, oh no, we're so sorry!! Anyway, we wont do it again until we receive the news.
Can I carry a passenger or let my friends ride the Scooty?
No, Scootys are one-person vehicles and you cannot bring a passenger. Only you should ride your Scooty.

Nggak ada suaranya sama sekali mbak. Ngidupin motornya kan pake aplikasi, jadi pas ngegas pertama tau2 udah jalan aja. Emang agak bahaya buat pejalan kaki, karena beneran nggak ada suaranya. Tp emang lucu ini, jd pengen beli buat di Jogja :-D

That's sooo cool! And I just saw a similar service in Bali, called Scoopy! Lol... I don't ride, or I would have taken one! :D

Oh yeah, I know Scoopy, my brother have one. Unfortunately, the electric scooter isn't popular yet in Indonesia.

It should work with a normal driver license from a car.
