Ever wondered what you could learn from an animation like SING? I had to look beyond the wonderful voices and the funny looking and adorable characters to grab a message which I believe the creators of the animation wanted to send across to the audience.
Remember when the Moon theatre was destroyed by flooding and the bank took ownership of the land? I guess you do now. The theatre was all Mr. Moon had, it was his home, his workplace, his motivation, it was his all. The most encouraging part came immediately after that part where the other animals who were a part of the contest came over to cheer him up in his loss. They didn't have to but they did anyway, even though he lied to them about the prize money being $100,000, they didn't mind anymore about the money. Money was no longer their motivation, their motivation was Mr. Moon.
Most of them lived life as a shadow of someone else's life, a parent, a boyfriend or their children. They did everything to satisfy these people except themselves. Mr. Moon started by giving them vision because that was what they lacked the most and this was the reason why they remained with him in his time of crisis.
Helen Keller was once asked "Is there anything worse than being blind? She replied, "Yes. The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight, but no vision".
Vision is seeing beyond your eyes - Myles Munroe
ROSITA
Rosita saw herself as a housewife and mother. She followed a daily routine that didn't give her a sense of fulfilment, she wanted to be more than a wife and mother. Mr. Moon presented her with that opportunity to be more of who she was meant to be and she shook it off on stage.
JOHNNY
Johnny, a young adult trying to figure out what life has in store for him found himself being a part of a robbery gang headed by his father. They made good money from each successful mission but Johnny didn't find fulfillment with what he was doing until he found the singing competition.
ASH
Ash was already in the music business with little luck. She sang along with her boyfriend who made her backup while he lead. She had problems trying to adjust as backing vocals till Mr. Moon made her sing solo. She ended writing her own song, she was set free from her boyfriend.
MEENA
Meena, with the voice of an angel has always been too shy to express her herself to the world through music. Things started changing when she met Mr. Moon. At the end, she got what $100k dollars couldn't have given to her - the courage to face the world.
You may wonder why you didn't get people to support you in your down moments. Sometimes it's because you didn't add any value to their lives. It doesn't matter how hard you hit rock bottom, if you've invested in people and gave thema vision that'll take them closer to their purpose, they'll be there for you. You can only be valuable when you add value to others by investing in them, we have an assignment and that's to add something valuable in other people's lives.
