Once upon a time there was an Irish giant called Finn McCool.

Finn lived happily with his lovely wife Sadhbh near the wild sea. All was good and well, except for one thing. Across the sea, on the Scottish shores there lived another giant whose name was Bennandonnar. Every day, Finn and Bennandonnar would shout at each other from across the sea, and throw boulders as large as elephants towards one another. Bennandonnar has always had a very light temper, Finn unfortunately had to be the victim of this.

One day Bennandonnar yelled at Finn and made a claim for Finn's island of Ireland. This enraged Finn and caused him to run towards the shore. When Finn got to the shore he started throwing boulders towards Bennandonnar. Finn was filled with anger and wanted to cause nothing but harm to Bennandonnar. One of the boulders that Finn had thrown, did not make it towards the other island and landed in the sea. The way how the boulder landed in the sea, inspired Finn. He decided to throw enough boulders into the sea, to make a bridge all the way towards Bennandonnar's island. Which is also known as a causeway, a Giants Causeway.

Bennandonnar saw Finn coming towards him from afar and decided to start building a causeway too. Both giants stormed towards each other. However, Finn quickly realised that he had been messing with the wrong giant. Bennandonnar was at least twice the size of Finn and was raging with anger. Finn knew for sure that when he would face Bennandonnar, he would be crushed to bits. Finn didn't know what to do and started running back towards his island. With Bennandonnar still coming after him, Finn ran inside his house and explained everything to his wife. She nodded and told Finn that she had the perfect solution. Finn would have to make Bennandonnar think that he was way larger than Bennandonnar so that the raging Irish giant would be scared off. Sadhbh told Finn that she would dress him up as a baby by wrapping Finn up in sheets.

When Bennandonnar finally arrived at Finn's house, he started pounding on the door. Sadhbh quickly moved towards the door and welcomed Bennandonnar to their house. Bennandonnar asked here where Finn was, she told him that Finn went out and attended Finn who was disguised as a giant baby. This led Bennandonnar to believe that Finn must have been at least twice as large as himself and ran for his life. On his way back to Ireland, Bennandonnar crushed all the boulders that formed the causeway between the two islands, to make sure that Finn would not be able to follow him. Which caused the remaining boulders at shore to be shaped oddly, with six edges, on both islands.
