Balsam (drink) - alcohol tincture of various medicinal herbs.
It is a strong alcoholic beverage (40-45% by volume of alcohol), which has a peculiar "balsamic" aroma, consisting of the aromas of many herbs, seeds and aromatic oils.
It is made by infusion of a water-alcohol solution on various ingredients, most often grasses and roots, but also there may be animal components (such as honey, deer horn).
In the recipes of some balms, there are up to 40 components and all of them are usually kept secret.
This causes a small assortment and low volumes of production of this drink.
