“Yeah? Really?” Justin said. Anger tinged his tone and Ash shrank back towards the door to the kitchen, tears springing to her eyes. She was confused, she never cried unless the situation was extreme. The last time she’d cried before the night she was attacked had been months ago.
“Yeah, she’s been lying to you all this time, and so has he,” Mike said, indicating to Robin.
Ash’s confusion at the tears threatening to spill over her eyelids was nothing compared to Mike’s confusion at Justin’s next words.
“Get out of my house, Mike. You’re scum. I ended up taking the rap for you when you asked me to because I was going off on disability and your career would be in ruins if you were convicted. The only reason I allowed that was because I didn’t know what the rap was. I knew you were a corrupt cop, I didn’t know you were a paedophile!”
“That’s not…” Mike started to stammer. Justin’s cold manner, despite his disability, unnerved the bent ex-copper.
“That’s not what? It’s not what I thought it was, that’s for certain. I’d heard rumours that you were bent, but I knew a lot of bent coppers and people who used different methods to get the job done. You weren’t getting the job done so much as getting your jollies in any way you could. You’re a filthy paedophile and I don’t want you anywhere near my friends. I’ve known Ashleigh was a girl almost from the start. I saw you looking at her in that way and I knew I had to find out more about him in order to protect him. I’m glad I did and I’m also glad you’ve got nothing to blackmail her with now. Go on, piss off! You’re making the place look untidy.”
Justin was exhausted from his tirade but remained upright in his chair by sheer force of will.
Robin started to go to him to help, but he shook his head once to stop the lad. He didn’t want to collapse until after Mike had left.
Ash opened the door for Mike and waved her hand to invite him to go.
“You, you little bastard, you can expect more of that,” Mike snarled and indicated to the damage on Ash’s face.
“Aww, are you all upset cos I’m not a little boy and you got a hard-on cos you thought I was?” Ash said. Then she lowered her voice to match his menacing tone. “You wanna watch out none of your friends in high places find out you’re a fucking nonce, you nonce!”
She raised her voice once he’d crossed the threshold. She was delighted that her words had hit a nerve and he paled as he realised what she now had on him. “Go on, off you fuck!” Ash said and slammed and locked the door behind him.
Ash came back to the living room with a spring in her step but that dissolved when she saw the state Justin was reduced to. She swiftly turned around and fetched a glass of water.
Justin waved the water away. “Nah, lass,” he whispered. “Fetch something to celebrate with…”
“Under the sink,” Robin said. “Right at the back.”
Ash did as she was told and found a bottle of whisky. She looked at the bottle as she brought it to Justin’s chair. “This is the good stuff and you keep it under the sink?”
“Yeah, well, while the junkie scrotes were hanging about, I didn’t want it in the drinks cabinet, did I?”
“What about Brenda? Wouldn’t she find it?”
“Brenda? Looking under the sink? What would she go in there for? Not cleaning stuff, that’s for sure!” Justin laughed and coughed. Ash passed him the glass of water again and he took a sip to stop the coughing but then he reached for the bottle.
“No, you drink this from a glass, you heathen!” she said.
Ash bought Justin a glass and poured a ‘nip’ of the golden liquid for Justin.
“Cheers,” he said and lifted his glass to them both. He took a good sip, closed his eyes and held the liquid in his mouth, savouring the taste and the sensation.
When he’d swallowed, he lifted his glass to indicate to the sideboard. “Just check my spare key is gone,” he said.
“What? Gone?” Ash said in a panic. She turned to look and the key was indeed missing.
She looked in the drawers and cupboards and on the floor but she couldn’t find the key.
“Mike took it,” Justin said. “He didn’t think I noticed, but he took it.”
“We have to get another bloody lock?” Robin said.
“No.”
“But he’ll be able to get in!” Robin said, his state of panic reaching the same height as Ash’s.
“No, I have a plan,” Justin said. “But I have to rely on you kids for a lot of it. It’s going to be scary and bloody dangerous. If you don’t want to, say so now.”
Ash looked at Robin and he looked back at her. They seemed to come to the same decision at the same time. They turned to Justin and nodded.
“What’s wrong with your head, lad… I mean, lass?” Justin said.
Ash looked at Justin, puzzled for a moment. “Oh yeah,” she said. She pulled her hood back and showed off her new hair style.
“Fuck me!” Justin said. “That’s more like a hair don’t than a hair do! What the fuck were you thinking?”
Robin laughed and walked around her, brushing her head gently with the palm of his hand. “Ohh, nice and smooth,” he said. “It won’t be so smooth tomorrow though! You’ll have five-o’clock-shadow on yer head!”
She swatted his hand away and replied to Justin. “I was thinking my hair was getting long and I was starting to look like a girl… I couldn’t have you guessing I wasn’t really a boy, could I?” She laughed. “Bit too soon wasn’t I? I should have left it another day.”
“Oh I think that particular look could have waited at least til… well, forever,” Justin said and laughed.
“Skin-‘ead!” Robin called.
“Fuck right off!” Ash said, but she took the teasing in good humour. It’s not like she had to go to school and endure the teasing there… at least not for a week.

Great stuff. Upvoted and following. Steemit is great for up and coming writers who in the past had to waste endless hours/days submitting.

The problem you have here is that you've stolen the post from @steemed.
This is the original and then there's yours. But you've gone one further, haven't you? You've even tried to copy the name.
But your biggest mistake was to try to get others to resteem it. In other words, you got greedy. And now, not only have I flagged your post, I'm going to report you for it so your next posts will be watched very carefully.
I'm a writer. I write original content and I loathe plagiarists - theft will get found out.
