STAR WARS - A space fairy tale.

A galactic cowboy movie becomes a cult film; The war of the galaxies, of George Lucas.

In 1977, Lucas wrote and directed a completely different type of film than he usually does, a science fiction project.

The cast that he met was relatively unknown and, consisting of 11 million dollars, the budget was quite modest. The studio was not convinced that the film will be a success and therefore was ready to cede the rights to Lucas; It would be the triumph of Lucas and the loss for the study.

Since the film produced 460 million dollars and generated several sequels: nine were planned in total of which six occurred in 2005.

The films of today are among the most successful in the history of cinema. STAR WARS is a cult phenomenon and George Lucas is now one of the richest men in Hollywood.

STAR WARS.

It takes the form of a simple fairy tale and, like all fairy tales, it has to do with the struggle between good and evil. It is set in a prehistoric era in a distant galaxy.

The battle between good and evil.

The hero in the first of the films made, the fourth in the global context of the series is called Luke Skywalker. He is a young man who lives on an inhospitable planet, Tatooine.

All his friends have left and he would like to do the same. After two droids, robots with human characteristics, they are stranded on the planet. Called "C3PO" and "R2-D2" are survivors of a galactic battle. Through them, Luke meets a settler named Ben Kenobi.

He is the last of the Jedi Knights.

A community of altruistic defenders of freedom in the universe. Sent out of the evil empire that now dominates, they search for the two droids and murder Luke's adoptive parents in the process. Then Luke goes to Ben Kenobi and is instructed by him in arts of the Jedi Knights.

Landing on the Death Star.

Princess Leia

The first thing they have to do as a mission is to free the lovely princess, Leia Organa. From the clutches of Darth Vader. R2-D2 caught his distress signal. Darth Vader is the Lord of the Sith, the right arm of the Galactic Emperor and a dark figure. Luke, Ben Kenobi and the droids manage to escape from Tatooine aboard a spaceship, the ancient Millennium Falcon. The ship is captained by smuggler Han Solo and his co-pilot Chewbacca a hairy creature, and are forced to land on the Death Star, a spaceship equipped with weapons capable of destroying a planet, where Princess Leia is imprisoned.

The millennial hawk lands and its passengers must hide. They assume false identities and fight. In the end they release Leia, but in the fight against Darth Vader, Ben Kenobi sacrifices his life. The villain escapes but the rebellion against the empire continues.

It does not take much to figure out the inspiration and the models behind the fairy tales. The Jedi Knights are based on the Knights of King Arthur's Round Table, in the same way that Luke is related to knights Iwein, Parsifal and Richard the Lionheart. A kindly outlaw like the captain of the junk ship.

Han Solo

He is a standard character in many cowboy movies, while the droids, one short and fat and the other tall and thin, are based on Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. The characterization and the mysterious world of distant galaxies, created by countless utopian writers in the style of Jules Verne, give an account of the appeal of the mythological cosmos of Luke.

When Lucas made his first STAR WARS movie.

Digital manipulation techniques were about to be invented. The director had to generate a creative world using locations, sets and blue screen effects. The way he managed to do so impressed his contemporaries and continues to fascinate the public today.
