This story was noted in a book published years ago by Paul Harvey The Rest Of the Story. Paul reported that the man died but the monkey knew to go to the controls to change the tracks and did so until someone came to check on the man. Each story was a tear-jerker. Paul Harvey was a magnificent story teller.

I’d say he made a mistake going anywhere near that signal house. He should have remained with the troop and found himself a nice lady baboon & not spent his hard earned cash loafing around smoking and drinking.
