Is that supposed to mean something?' Richard rolled his eyes.
'Nope' Charlie answered.
'What do we do now.' Angela asked.
'How about exorcising the demon.' Comfort said making Richard, Angela and Charlie look towards her.
She and Isaac had been involved in their own personal conversation while the trio discussed.
Now,they seemed to be done with their talk and Comfort looked more confident than she did when she was showered with gore.
Isaac stood beside sia as they both walked towards the Trio.
'Do your job,Charlie and we can all go home.' Isaac said.
'Go home?' Castiel laughed. He had woken up just before horlah talked. 'You can't go home. I already called the hunter. He'll find all of you and kill you. But it doesn't have to be that way. All we want is the contract.'
'What's he talking about?' Angela asked. 'What contract?'
'This contract.' Charlie brought it out of his jacket pocket. 'This is what they are after.'
'Where did you get that from.' Comfort asked.
'Yeah, where did you get it from.' Richard echoed Comfort.
'The closet.' Charlie responded. 'Castiel found it before Ridwan and I jumped him.
'So,all our friends died for this piece of junk?' Angela said pointing at the scroll is Charlie's hand. 'If you had just let him take that scroll,Ben and Tommy would still be alive.'
'It's not that simple.' Charlie
.
'It's that simple.' Angela lashed out. 'All he came for was the scroll and you just had to play exorcist. Now,I see why you were banned from performing exorcism.'
Charlie's face was downcast after Angela's words. He knew,in one way or the other he had caused their friends' deaths. He felt guilt in his stomach. The same guilt he felt when he was unable to return Lucky's physical body.
'Your exorcist career was never meant to be.' Castiel jabbed at Charlie.
'Angrla. You don't understand. The scroll is the only key to getting Loki back.' Charlie reasoned.
'Angela' Castiel said panting hard. 'Its me'
'Daniel.?' Toni asked.
'Yes.' Daniel said. 'I managed to suppress him. He only wants the scroll. Give it to him and he'll let us all go.'
'It's Daniel.' Sia said. 'His accent is back'
'It's not Daniel. It's Castiel,he's messing with you. Charlie said.
'It sounds just like Daniel.' Toni cried.
Angela felt remorse for Daniel. He sounded like he was in excrutiating pain from being possessed.
'Get over here and untie me you bitch.' Castiel roared.
'I can't hold him much longer.' Daniel said. 'Just give him the scroll and it will all be over- guhhh!'
He gave a low growl at the end,his veins popping out as he tried to suppress the excrutiating pain.
'Give me the scroll.' Angela demanded from Charlie.
'I'm sorry,I can't' Charlie declined.
'Then we have a problem here.' Angela said, picking up her baseball bat
'What are you guys doing? Let's sit down and discuss this.' Isaac said.
'There's nothing to discuss.' Toni said. 'We're giving castiel the contract and freeing Daniel.'
'Then we will be risking a war. An apocalyptic war against mankind.' Richard said.
'That would be insane.' Issac said.
'Angela, the scroll is dangerous. All it brings is destruction. We have to make sure it doesn't fall in the wrong hands.' Charlie beckoned.
'If we keep the contract, you don't know if it can free Lucky. You said it yourself the scroll is dangerous.'
Angela said with watery eyes, it had been a hell of a day and she had never been faced with such a tough situation.
'What are you doing.' Isaac asked as Comfort snatched the scroll from Charlie's hand.
'If we keep the scroll,we'll all be killed.' You hear him talk about an hunter. I've read about hunters. They destroy whole nations just to collect a bounty. I'm not ready to die.'
They were faced with two options with similar end results. The could give castiel the contract and in return he would free Daniel but the risk unleashing a doomsday device to the hands of people who are desperate to use it.
On the other hand, they could keep the contract with them and avert an imminent apocalypse but they would be hunted like game and slaughtered like cattle.
'Let's call a vote.' Richard finally suggested.
'Good idea.' Isaac said. 'I say we keep the contract.'
'To what end?' Angela asked. 'We lose one more friend and we all die-no matter how long it takes this so called hunter to find us. Let's give the contract back and end it all.'
'Giving the demons the contract is like giving a terrorist sect launch codes to the countries missiles.' Charlie said. 'We need to make sure the contract never gets to them at all cost. We have to keep it.'
'I don't know what to say but I think I agree with Charlie. We should be ready to risk a few lives, our lives for the many.' Richard said.
It was Comfort's turn to talk. She felt a mix of fear, confusion and anxiety.
How was their story going to end. Would they be the ones that served the world up to the demons(for destruction) or would they be the five preys to be forever hunted by demons. She liked neither of the options. And her decision was crucial because she was the one holding the contract in her hand.
'I don't want anybody to die. I'm not ready to die.' Comfort said, tears dripping down her cheeks.
She looked at Tommy's headless body, his brain splattered across the room; Ben's body laid limp on the floor, the sword still stricking out of his chest.
Her gaze wandered over to one edge of the room where James' and Lara's bodies laid stiff. She didn't realize when they were taken down. They were all too busy trying to stay alive than to take count of the fallen.
'There are two options, either we give the contract to Castiel or we keep it. Make the right decision.' Angela urged her harshly.
'You forgot one more option.' Comfort said.
'What's that?' Richard asked.
'We use the contract's power to stop the demons before they become a real threat.' Comfort said.
'How do you plan on doing that' Isaac asked.
'Whatever you do,do not open the scroll.' Charlie cried out.
It was too late. comfort had opened the scroll.
The contract's seal broke and blinding light shone across the room. This light was accompanied by ear piercing noise and loud rumbling of the earth. The shaking earth had tossed the chair castiel sat on off the exorcism circle. He quickly untied himself with new found strength and tried to pick the contract that was floating in mid air.
Charlie watched as a bolt of lightning sent Castiel flying out the window. The floor sank and Charlie barely heard Richard shout 'Earthquake' as he came running by his side.
Everyone ran out of the house in their different ways. Charlie saw what looked like a door made of light form where the contract floated in the air. Isaac and Comfort were the first to leave the house. They got into the space bus and Isaac didn't stop driving.
Angela got out of the house and into her garage, she pulled out her SUV and drove into the darkness.
Charlie and Richard got into the latter's Volks wagen. It took a few tries but the beast finally roared to life and they drove off into the night, Toni's crumbling house behind them.
This marks the end of the first part of EXORCIST. Feel free to read up on the previous episodes while you wait for the next part.
