The inquisitive Baby Elephant

in story •  7 years ago

Baby elephant just started to grow and everyone was happy to watch him grow, he was the pride of the family, he had a beautiful skin and a glowing face to compliment. He was a very smart young creature and this increased the love and shelter he received from friends and families, he was as well really inquisitive he wanted to know the reason behind everything.

One day, he saw the bed flying, and he asked why can this creature fly and we cannot fly, his aunt then explained to him that those creatures have feathers and only creatures who have feathers can fly. He went further to ask but why don't we have feathers? she ignored him and said enough of the questions today.

He created questions out of everything he saw around, he asked questions like: what do this creatures have for dinner, where do this animals sleep, what do they eat and he will get responses accordingly.

He particularly wanted to know what each animal had for dinner, so he kept asking questions everyday about each animal and relatives will answer him until they are tired of talking for that day.

One day he became interested in the crocodile and he wanted to know what Mr. Crocodile usually have for dinner, he went to his Dad to ask what the crocodile had for dinner but he got spanked for it, he as well went to his mum to ask the same question and she as well spanked him, he went to his Aunt and uncles and he was told to keep quiet and never ask such question any more.

But his curiosity was not satisfied, he really wanted to know what the elephant had for dinner, so he went to the bird to ask what the crocodile has for dinner, the bird asked him to go to the river bank in the evening where everywhere was settled then he should go close to ask any body in the river about Mr. Crocodile.

He thanked him and went to the river bank he saw python and asked please have you seen Mr. Crocodile around, what do you want from him asked the python, I just want to know what he has for dinner, the python as well spanked him.

He got angry and walked out on the python in a quest to satisfy his curious mind, he saw something in the water body and went close to him to ask please have you seen Mr. Crocodile, why do you ask such a question the creature asked, because I am curious to know what the crocodile has for dinner.

Crocodile said I am Mr. Crocodile and I like you come a little closer and I will tell you what I have for dinner, baby elephant went close and he whispered into his ears maybe I will start with the baby elephant for tonight.

The crocodile dragged the elephant into the water body through it's little trunk, he started screaming it is hurting please let me go, please let me go and that was the end of the inquisitive baby elephant.

Now it's curiosity killed the elephant

thank you so much @sussan, I appreciate the visit

Beautiful post

Thank you

It is a beautiful story, although it ended in tragedy. His parents should have provided him with an answer to his question.

yeah, I felt so to but they thought they could protect him that way.

Curiosity... Too much of this can lead one astray. The baby elephant refuse to know that there are answers to everything but not everything can be explained. Thumbs up my dear for this piece.

Hmmmm, I like that statement. Thanks for stopping by
