The Power of Love-The Story of Sola and Rebecca

in story •  7 years ago

An adage says where someone's heart is that is where his treasure will be.
This adage can be applied to the chemistry that plays out between two lover birds. Love is a fire that burns without setting it ablaze, love is invincible, magical and unconditional.

Sola, a graduate of English department at Ambrose Ali University was posted to Ogun state for his service year early last year after he has completed his Bs.c program.
Prior before then sola has been fantasizing about a life without his parents guarding and overpampering him, maybe because he was their only son and a son of their old age.

While he was in school, his mother visited every weekend to check on him. Although, his parents wanted him to stay off campus for the comfortability and convenience but sola insisted on staying in the campus hostel.
Although, the lifestyle on campus was poor and unbearable but because sola wanted a low life as oppose to his original lifestyle as a son of mult-millionaire businessman & woman he decided to stay in the hostel.

Sola's parents are socialite and elites in the province of Edo. Although, none of them is from a royal family but because of their status in the society they were conferred a chieftancy title as the Umuozo of Edo State (Keeper of Statute). With all these responsibilities that they shouldered, they didn't allow their son's welfare to be on the line. Contrary, to what is obtainable in an ordinary rich home where the parents indulge themselves in too much activities and neglect their children's welfare.

Back in school, sola is in his penultimate year.
He was in love with Rebecca, a sophomore student of Accounting department. It all started from the cafeteria where sola decided to extend a kind gesture, he approached Rebecca and that day the temperature was somewhat hot. So, he decided to buy her a drink which she accepted. After that day, the went for a date and from there they ignited the fire of love and it burnt until when...

Now Sola back in camp couldn't help but cope with the stress & struggle of NYSC because he has decided to be a patriotic citizen. He could have decided to lobby his way out and stay back at Edo State to serve but because he has desired to be away from his parents for some time now and also Rebecca is from Ogun State. So, he decided to go far away from his parents to serve despite their efforts to contrain him.

Finally, the journey of four years has come to an end and Sola is about leaving AAU for the next phase. But the graduation and convocation ceremony won't be completed if Sola doesn't introduce Rebecca to his parents. He told them and they are eagerly awaiting for the arrival of the queen because sola is like a charming prince to his parents.
Rebecca and Sola alighted from the car and walked into sola's parents castle. The parents gave her a warm welcome and they had a little chit chat before meal that evening.
This meal is delicious screamed Sola's father, abruptly Rebecca slum on the floor and started foaming. Leprosy!!
God forbid

Few minutes later she stood up and cleaned herself. Every faces was glued at her in disbelief. She couldn't stand it, immediately she left the house for her small apartment outside campus. Sola's parents instructed him not to marry her or even have anything to do with her. Even if he should go ahead, they will not bless the union.

Sola was filled with pain and hid heart hurt badly, he loved her so much and he wanted to get a solution to this embarrassing issue. He spoke to his Mum about it and since her Son's happiness was her priority, she started looking for ways to get a solution to the Lady's problem.

Sola in his conversation with Rebecca
I'm sorry I didn't follow you when you left my house the other day
I'm sorry I wasn't there for you when you needed me
My parents are sorry for what they did to you and they are ready to bless our union.

After a little minute of silence, Rebecca accepted to marry Sola and they lived happily ever after.
Place a high value on yourself because the higher your value then the higher the demand you attract to yourself.
