Bodabodas are the primary means of transportation for Ugandans especially during this rainy season because of the unbearable traffic in this rainy season. Some also opt for bodabodas because they are so fast and convenient. Some bodaboda passengers think that it is the motorist to play the biggest role in safety while on the road by wearing helmets, long shoes and also following traffic rules and regulations.
As a boda boda passenger, you have an active role in your safety at the boda and you should always be alert to ensure it. Here is the advice for bodaboda passengers during this rainy season.
Before you approach the boda, check out the seat if it is comfortable, Because of the rain, some seats become slip ply making it easy for you to slide off the boda. A comfortable seat should always have something to hold on. If the seat is uncomfortable, tell the motorist to clean or fix it.
A passenger should always pay attention while on the boda. Do not be taken away by different thing but always be focused while on the boda. Because of the unbearable traffic during this rainy season, some boda boda drivers usually like dodging traffic and end up using slip ply muraam roads. This can make you lose balance and get dumped.
As you rush to get a boda because it is raining and you are late for work, make sure that the bodaboda driver is ready for you. Do not force the bodaboda rider to drive you. Your safety on the road is better than that job. Some are not willing to drive in rain.
AS a passenger, always wait for the bike to come to a full stop before jumping off because it is raining on you. Remember you might jump off badly and slide off with the boda. Amidist rain, always be mindful about your life.
Passengers should also avoid engaging the motorist rider in the conversation. It might distract them and they slip off the road. Help the motorist to be attentive even when it is raining and always communicate in case you are not comfortable or you are sure that he is using a bad road
During the rainy season, bodaboda passengers should also refuse using lonely roads. Thieves like taking opportunity of the rainy season to steal knowing that roads are always with few people.
God bless you.
