You don’t have all the answers, but admit slyly that you have a few. In a lifetime consumed with riddles, I barter in runes and algorithms. I find comfort in the silence, as an oracle finds peace in the shadow of mystery.
I say these things in my own way. A warm meal after a long day. Listening not to speak but to understand seeing the world through your heart. Mapping you over as you fall asleep with your head in my hands. I take a snapshot in my mind, an index of candid polaroids reminding me that I was once content within a moment. I only have very few. Holding my breath underwater beneath the stars and getting lost in the green glow. Watching the sunrise beam over the shore and feeling very small, realizing all those that have seen this orb before me and all those that would follow within the hours.
We are not meant to suffer for the sake of duty. As the silhouette radiates over the horizon, we are born and reborn of dust out of our own resolve. In our time we learn to go against our nature. We learn to be kind. We learn to trust. We collect our snapshots and keep them in a treasured box to remind us that in the end, these moments were ours alone.
