As with most love stories, this too begins in college. But unlike most, it does not end there. With some people, losing your love just isn’t an option.
The twins of the Roy family were by far the most intelligent, decent and dedicated children in the small town of Radha Nagar. Both brother and sister were pleasing to the eye and company. And now they have achieved scholarships to study abroad. Rishav was an aspiring CA with a very bright future as put by his mentors, and Megha was now a MD scholar. They were both going to Australia for higher studies and to make their parents proud.
With hopeful eyes they absorbed everything around them…the buildings, the beaches, the cars, the farms, everything was so beautiful to them. Their college campus was in itself a small city with its medical, engineering, business and legal campuses complete with staff and student lodging. But even all this could not have prepared them for what was coming.
As they were about to enter the Office building they looked around at the sound of a loud howling. The students loitering were looking up and pointing. Both twins, a little nervous, stepped out in the open to find out what was going down. As they came out in the open they saw a helicopter hovering overhead. A thin and long black rope suddenly came out of its door which opened to show a glimpse of a young man in black latex and a most exquisite face. The man, then, to everybody’s alarm took a graceful jump out of the chopper! As everybody gasped with shock, Megha shut her eyes and held on to Rishav’s sleeve. The jumper had by then arched with incredible bodily alertness and with the rope to help him, slid down with an air of such easiness which would put Jason Statham out of business. He landed on his feet just some away from our Desi characters and was pounced upon by the surrounding onlookers. Most had dazed smiles on their faces and were looking at him with Godly reverence, too stunned to say anything. Others were shaking his hand and patting him on the back. When he at long last managed to get out of that melee, and with light steps walked towards the office entrance, his eyes fell on the small town Megha with her cheeks flushed out of sheer stress and shock. He stalled just a moment before Rishav protectively drew his sister away. Our jumper smiled to himself and went with confident steps towards the Principal’s office.
Loud whispers and gossip let us have a more or less clear picture of that jumper. His was a grich(super rich) family of which he was the only male heir. His younger sister also studied in the same college where his father and also his grandfather had studied. Easily the most coveted bachelor of Australia, he was a wild soul full of energy and imagination. Delinquent and daring were just synonyms. And so enters Shantanu popularly known as Shane.
His younger sister, a law student was an aspiring model. A ravishing beauty whom none could claim to know extensively outside of close family.
Now the strange tides of fortune which make paupers of emperors, took both young men in our story into a world of fanciful love. Rishav had seen the college celebrity Rohini in a campus fashion event and long story short, had fallen blindly and hopelessly into cunning cupid’s arms. He had no idea who she was nor was he aware of how very different they were.
On the other hand, our very dashing Shane had another problem
He had seen that girl with the white ‘Indian’ kurti and the flushed cheeks. And now not any of those matte polished essence-covered females could draw his attention. Suddenly, surfing and sky diving were not that fun anymore.
Blah…blah… a lot of events, which could be inferred as wooing by both our male scholars to win the queen of their heart, later, and a not so negative vibe from the subjects of their heartfelt serenades make us feel that all is well.
But what’s life without a little twist?
Our desi characters suffer from a fatal financial setback in their family and have to return. Meanwhile, the super rich dad of Rohini finds out about her relationship with Rishav. At first he was willing to shrug it off as an odd friendship born out of her curiosity for Rishav’s kind of life. He, being a man of experience and means, had already arranged for a suitable groom for his daughter which would also bring together two great families of similar means. He knew his daughter was beautiful and was an object of desire. But he also knew that under that veil of frail beauty lay an unquestionable reserve of strength and character.
So he arranged for a secret meeting with her ardent admirer, Rishav. But unlike the villain we presume he would be, he is in fact a nice person who reasons with Rishav and logically explains to him why he should engage himself in more fruitful pursuits.
Woe to the man who undermines the strength of love and a youthful heart ready to bite the bullet for his valentine.
Rishav only registers the value of his competitor’s assets and goes back to his cheaply furnished hostel cabin, feeling a sting which only people with love in the heart and buttons for coins can.
Meanwhile the date for our twins to return to India is fast approaching.
