The Rexxies are back

It was a dark day. The dark clouds announced the arrival of heavy rains. The distant sound of thunder could be heard and people hurried indoors. Some people who were not bothered about the weather were still doing their 'thing' and went about as if there was nothing to worry about.

Mankind had taken a big hit and the virus had wiped a lot of humans off the planet and the animals were freer to move about more than ever. One could see the wild birds and animals daring to come nearer the human habitats.

She went inside her caravan and switched on the radio. She wanted to hear the news and then prepare herself for a light dinner. The news reporter announced that domesticated cattle were disappearing in some areas closer to the forest and warned people to keep a watch on the animals. No one was sure who or what made the animals disappear and farmers were panicking.

The police force was onto the case but they could not trace anything.

She heard a noise and looked out through the window. It was really dark and the sun had set and the rains were pouring but she saw something move behind the bushes and the tall trees were also being shoved, it seemed. She wondered if it could be the strong winds but then there would have been tornado warnings.

It was then that she felt it and heard it at the same time. The caravan shook and the heavy thud near it made her shiver in fear. She sat down on the floor and switched off her lights and sat still. She did not move and even dare to breathe.

Her mobile rang at that moment and she moved her hand swiftly to cut the call but the sound had been 'heard' by the thing or whatever it was outside. She had cooked the omelet according to @xawi recipe and had been about to enjoy eating it when all this happened. There was a great smell of food in her van and it must have wafted outside. She peeped through the window thinking it must have been some small animal but she could not believe her eyes when she saw 'the animal'. It was a rexxie and it was running here and there. It was huge and ugly and seemed to be searching for food. She did not know if it was wise to open the door and run because if the rexxie chased her, she would be history.

She decided that she would use the spare kerosene and slightly opened the door and poured it on the steps and around it. The smell could put the animal off, she hoped. The wind was strong and she could see the rexxie sniffing and then suddenly, it turned away and ran off.

She breathed a sigh of relief and washed her hands and called the police to inform them and warn her neighbors too.

The people praised her for her quick action and also used kerosene to keep the rexxie away. The army was called in and they helped capture the animal and send it to a far off island but no one could still trace the route map of the rexxie.

How had they believed her?
Well, she had taken a photograph of the rexxie when it was standing a few feet away and she had opened the door to pour the kerosene. She herself wondered how she could muster the courage to do it. She decided it was wise to move away from the area and drove off.

A day later, mama rexxie was there, searching for her baby. Her roar was terrifying.

The dinosaurs were back.
