I will tell a very not so famous love story.
It is about King of Ayodhya Aja and princess Indumati.
Aja was Dasrath's father and Rama's grandfather.
Indumati was a beautiful princess. She was sister of King Bhoja of Vidarbha.
So when she comes of age her brother organizes a Swayamvar for her and invites all the kings and princes to attend it.
Invitation reached King Raghu of Ayodhya and he sends his son crown prince Aja. Exceedingly handsome Aja departs for Vidarbha. On the way he camps at the bank of a river where a wild elephant attacks the camp. Aja aims his arrow at the elephant's head but makes sure the arrow hits only enough to make it unconscious but not grievously injure it. The wild elephant happens to be a cursed Gandharv Priyam Vad who gets freed from his curse by Aja's arrow. The freed Gandharv gifts Aja Sammohan Star. A weapon that will make all those who attack him in a battle stupefied. Such that they will not be seriously injured but will not be able to attack him either.
Eventually Aja reaches the Swayamavar. On that day princess Indumati accompanied by her chaperone is taken to each suitor. But of all of them Indumati chooses Aja.
While Aja is returning, the rejected suitors attack them to take away Indumati. But Aja uses Sammohanastra on them as he doesn't want to kill them and leaves.
After arriving in Ayodhya, King Raghu crowns him as king and retires. Sometime later Aja and Indumati have a son Dasrath.
One day when Indumati and Aja are strolling in the palace gardens Rishi Narad was passing by in the sky. A garland of parijat flowers from his hand falls down on indumati and she as a result dies
Grief stricken Aja raises his son Dashrath a single parent till he is 8 years old. He does not remarry but choses to remain a celibate widower. Then when Dasrath has to go to gurukul for education he hands over his son to Rishi Vashisht to train him to be a good king and gives up his life to join Indumati.
The only love story I read where not a woman but a man gives up everything for his wife
