Social networking sites are a boom these days with increasing number of people signing up on social networking sites such as Twitter, face book and Orkut etc in order to stay updated online and gather their known on an online platform. These unique features have built a strong image about the company and people across the world irrespective of their age group have their profiles on face-book. Today, the company is more inclined to make business using this powerful social medium by way of advertising and online games.

Face book in particular has been a great success since its launch in February 2004. Founded by a 24 year student of psychology at Harvard University, Mark Zuckerberg is the person behind Face book’s success story. Originally the site was known by the name “the face book”, and within a span of 24 hours, 1200 Harvard students had gained access to the site by creating their profiles on face book. The network quickly spread to neighboring universities and rapidly spread across the US with thousands of profiles registered. The site got the name Facebook.com in august 2005 for a cost of $ 200, 000. The site is free to register and anyone with a valid email address can get a membership on facebook.com. The main source of revenue of face-book is through online advertising programs. Google and Yahoo are the leading companies with an active interest to buy face book however, Mr. Zuckerberg is reluctant to sell his site. Since 2007, there have been good improvements on the site and users can do a lot many things such as posting a free comments there on application on this site .

The person you can call 2 or 3 in the morning for advice or just to talk. These are the people that know when something is wrong with you before you even tell them. The ones that will tell you what is real no matter if you want to hear it or not. The people that can go to your parents with anything dealing with you when it is serious and they cant help you. Those are your ride or die friends that will be there for you through thick and thin. Is being good company enough? Is trust a key ingredient? Or loyalty? Or self-sacrifice(pg 145)? Those people you can call and take you anywhere you want with no problems are friends. The others are just your acquaintances. The people that you cant get rid of no matter how hard you try but they will not leave out your life are friends until the end. Those are the untill death do us part friendships. A very known type of friendsship are the ones you say are family and the frinds you call brother or sister. “No matter how thick your soup of constant communication, sooner or later you may have to decide who will be your braidesmaid. No matter how easily you can get Facebool on your iPhone, sooner or later you may have to decide who will be the godfather of your child. And no matter how extensive your profile, it’s certain that someday.
