Good evening, since it is a little bit quiet around here tonight, I thought I could tell you a story. This is a very special story handed down from generation to generation through my family. My daddy wrote it and told it to me so it has only really travelled one generation so far but perhaps through the magic of life and the blockchain, it will spread further.
I love story time. Mum and dad read to me a lot and I have many books. I am very good at recognising what parts we are at and I like to add some of the sounds and words that I know. Dad enjoys putting on voices but many of them sound the same to me although he thinks that they are pretty awesome. Mummy says things to him like, "Why the stupid voices?" and "Do you have to sound angry when you read Finnish?" but, he doesn't seem to mind and they often make me laugh.
This story is the first children's story dad has written and I like it. Daddy is the kind of person that thinks everything should have a lesson in it. For now this suits me as I am learning a lot every day but, I am sure I will get tired of it sometime in the future. I do like that my parents go to so much effort to make sure I am learning about life, it will come in handy I think.
This story has some mature themes so if you are easily shocked, please don't read it. I Enjoy it though. One day, I am going to ask someone to do some illustrations for it and make a little book. I think it would make a good memory. For now, the blockchain will remember it though. If you want, you can tell it to your children too, perhaps they will enjoy it.
I hope I don't get in trouble for not crediting Dad, but if there are any questions I will clear them up.

Here it is:
The monkey & the lion
Once upon a time, high up in a tree, lived a monkey. The monkey had a great life because the tree he lived in grew his favourite food.
Bananas.
He would spend his day swinging from branch to branch picking the ripest and juiciest bananas to fill his belly on and when full, fall asleep in the arms of the most comfortable branches.
It was during one of his many naps that he was awoken by a rumbling. He opened his eyes and listened. There it was again. He looked down and saw a poor looking lion and realised the rumbling was coming from her belly.
"Hey lion" he called and she looked up to him. "Your rumbling belly woke me from a lovely dream. Are you okay?"
"I'm sorry I woke you" she replied. "I am just So very hungry."
The monkey thought a moment to himself and then happily replied "Well, you are in luck! I have a whole tree full of food here and I am happy to share some with you."
With hope in her eyes the lion, thanked the monkey for being so kind. He then continued to dance about a little as he collected a bunch of bananas and dropped them down to her.
The lion sniffed at them and with a forlorn look at the monkey said, "I really appreciate your help but I can't eat bananas, I eat meat."
The monkey, a little upset that his good turn was not good enough, replied, "I am sorry lion, all I have are bananas. Meat doesn't grow on trees."
The lion looked thoughtful and continued, "Of course it does. I can see it from here."
The monkey turned around looking over his shoulders several times and shouted back down, "Nope. I have lived in this tree my entire life and have never seen any meat growing here. You are mistaken, lion."
"Hey monkey, I can see it from here. Perhaps it is the angle you are looking from. Come down and I will show you what you are missing."
The curious monkey had another quick search around and without seeing anything new, took a few swings and made it down to the bottom of the tree. He walked next to the lion and turned to look at the tree he had spent his entire life in as he asked the lion:
"So, what am I missing?"
At that point, the lion snapped her jaws and swallowed the monkey whole.
"See, meat does grow on trees."
Is the lesson not to trust a hungry stranger? Or to not be gullible?:)
