Anne lead Mox to a room on the first floor of the house. Max noticed the large foyer which leads to the stairs. On the right of the foyer it was a large living room, while on the left it seems to be the dining room.
The guest room where Mox was accommodated it was neither too large or small. A big window, like the rest of the windows of the house, brightened up the room. The view of the window lead toward the small courtyard, but you could also see in the orchard and the alley from the gate toward the house.
“I hope this will be to your liking, mister Mox” Anny said. “I have to go to refresh myself and change my clothes. The road was so exhausting” she said while gesturing with her hands.
Mox looked around the room for a little bit and then decided to take a nap. It was a long road for him as well.
A knock on the door wake Mox up.
“Mister, the dinner is ready. Miss is waiting for you” an unknown voice was heard from the other side.
“I’ll be down in a few minutes” Mox answered.
Looking out the window, Mox could see the sun setting down, glimpsing over the orchard and the courtyard.
Not wanting to delay the dinner or the make Anny wait for him, Mox washed his face in a small water basin that was on the desk, changed his shirt and went down the stairs.
In the dining room, Anny was waiting for him. Another little lady, around 10 years old and a young man, which seemed to be around 14 years old, were staying quietly, waiting for the food.
“Mister Mox, welcome” Anny said while rising from her chair and greeted him. “These are my siblings, that cute little one is Annette and this young gentleman is Albert.”
Annette just smiled to Mox, showed a row of perfect white teeth, while Albert stood up and greeted Mox with a nod of his head.
“I’m glad to meet both of you!” Mox said, taking a seat at the table.
“Can we eat now?” Annette asked impatiently.
“We can eat, of course, my little one” Anny said and clapped her hands.
A servant entered the room, pushing a cart that had a lot of plates with food on it. He placed everything on the table and left quietly.
“Annette, prayer!” Anny stopped her little sister from gulping down the food that just arrived.
“Sorry!” the little Annette said with her head down.
“Dear Lord, we thank you for this food. Thank you for letting us share this with our family and friends. Amen”
After Albert finished the prayer, the little Annette launched herself toward the food on her plate. She didn’t mind the manners and made a mess of her face. She ate like a little piglet.
“Dear Annette, manners!” Albert reminded her.
“Never mind me. Let the child enjoy himself” Mox smiled.
Mox didn’t say a word and enjoyed his meal in silence. He realised how Anny managed to get to the size she was now. The food was absolutely delicious. The cook of this house was amazing. He could open a restaurant and make lots of money in the big cities from the east coast, Mox thought.
Mox didn’t eat much, but the rest around the table were still eating. He smiled, while sipping from his glass of wine. He was wondering when they will finish their meal.
But, when he thought that the dinner was done, the servant arrived with a plate of deserts.
