The Fishermen's Village - A Colorful Neighborhood

in story •  7 years ago

It was nice and still sunny yesterday, we walked downtown to catch some fresh air. We love  walking on the promenade. This is Playa de La Antilla, in Costa de la Luz, Andalucia, Spain. One of my favorite areas is the Fishermen village. They have these little houses on the right side. Everday, their husbands, sons and friends would go fishing in the Atlantic Ocean. The wives would wait and welcome them at the the seashore .

Fishermen's houses

Some of them only collect mussels, but most of them would go really far away with their boats. They have a simple routine every day. I remember one time, a grandpa sold us fresh fish. It was already clean and all you had to do was to cook it.  They also sell it in front of the  local supermarket or restaurant.

I admire thier hard work. It must be difficult to go out  in the sea and catch fish. In the afternoon when they are not fishing, we see them chatting, playing guitar, drinking coffee outside, while they are knitting their nets for fishing. You would hear them laughing so hard. Their children or grandchildren play football in the street. So carefree.

What more can you wish? You have the sun, the sea and the fish. They have everything that they need, the ocean, everything is free there, all kind of fish and other sea creatures. All they have to do is to learn how to fish and go for it. They have all the machinery, boats, nets  etc. It's a blessing indeed when you think about it.

Grandpa fishing:)

It reminds me of how simple life can be. Why sometimes we make it so complicated? They don't worry about what is going to happen tomorrow. They don't collect and accumulate material things, whatever they catch on that day they sell it. Then they rest and spend the rest of their time with their families. The next day they would go fishing again.

It's a stress free life....

The fishermen are one of the most useful people to the society
But i should ask, can you fish?😸😸

Yes, I know how to catch fish.
and u?

Oh lol not atall
Maybe you could teach mhe someday?

I love their way of life as you have explained. I wish life is just so simple that way than we have made it complicated.

Just a quick question...Do they go out of their village? I mean, do they explore since their life is so easy and beautiful there?

Different people have different lifestyles and path.
They do get out, the next town is 10 minutes with a car.
I'm sure they explore other towns as well.
actually, it's not a village, but i call it village bec of the small houses
and they have their own community.
(This is a small town. )

Nice one. Thanks for the enlightenment.
