IN THE DARK (A Love Story Of Betrayals And Survival) Season 1 Episode 1

The knock on my door woke me up,as soon
as i opened my eyes,I noticed that the sun
was shinning brightly already, I checked the time and it was
9:00am . I heard My mother’s voice from my
door step saying ‘Seun wakeup, it's your day!’. What the hell does she mean? My day? I was thinking semi-
awake, my mom shouted from my door step
again “its your birthday Seun!! Your
birthday!!! now wake up."

I opened my eyes immediately, 2éi ‘its my birthday!!’ I quickly stood up and rushed to the door and unlocked it. My mom smiled, her two househelps were holding a shopping bag and a butter icing cake.
The cake was decorated and a bold 16 was designed on the cake.
My mom, Mrs Adelani was a wonderful woman. I was so happy, I knelt down to greet my
mom.
My mom hugged me, she began to pray for me, she sang a birthday song for me then she began to cry, she was in tears.
"How I wish he was here to see his beautiful daughter." Mrs. Adelani wiped her tears
I hugged her, I tried to be strong but I couldn't help it also, I remembered the sweet memories of my father, Chief Tayo Adelani.
My dad was tall, he had an athletic body structure. His favorite avowal was
“only friends can betray you, try
to keep your secrets safe”.
My dad died in the
month of November, few weeks to my birthday.
I released myself from my mom’s
embrace and cleaned the tears in her eyes.

Mom smiled,
" i just can not believe my sweetheart is
sixteen”.
I smiled and hugged her, now she
released herself and teased me to stop
behaving like a baby.

"Seun will soon be a woman, she's getting married soon." Mrs. Adelani smiled
I laughed at mom’s statement,
including the maids. Mom treated her maids nicely.
Bimpe and Bunmi were both secondary school graduates just
like i was, but they were way older than me
probably because of their late education.

The cake was placed on a table and the candles on my cake were lighted. I walked to the table
and made a wish before blowing off the
candle.
I cut a piece from the huge
cake fed my mom with some and ate the
reamaining. Oh i love cakes!.
