Attics of my mind

When I was a college student, I worked in the archive department of the library in exchange for tuition. Boy did I ever have nerdy fun! I was primarily responsible for digitizing and databasing the handwritten ballad collection of Bascomb Lamar Lunsford, an Appalachian music legend.

One day I came across something very different and very special. It was a poem entitled "The Coming of the Sons of God", and it was about the Nephilim referenced in the Bible and the Book of Enoch. I became a little obsessed by it and spent many hours looking for the author or any reference to it. I commited it to memory and most of it is still there:

"Oh linked in love and arm they came
and made their boastful jests
The sons that Yahweh could not tame
came striding down with their fire of flame
and symbols on their crests
And the maidens' eyes were lit with fire
and fire was in their breasts..."

I mean it was just CAPTIVATING!

So now it is 11 years later (gosh i'm old) and I was talking about it with a friend. i decided to google it again, just for kicks.

EUREKA!

the author is Jake Falstaff, and the book is called "The Bulls of Spring". I just bought the only copy on abebooks for less than $30, but there are three more. Maybe abebooks should accept SBD.

I also penned an email to the head of the archive dept. at my alma mater to inform them of the new development in an obscure but riveting mystery.

If you are one of my followers reading this wondering why i dropped off the map this past week, be assured that I have oodles of really fantastic pictures of bees and all kinds of cool stuff i've found on my adventures, and that we are experiencing technical difficulties coumpounded with mechanical, bodily, mental, emotional, spiritual and economic difficulties that have required 120% of my concentration. but they are coming!

I am typing this on my new bluetooth keyboard by Anker, which is so much faster than poking a screen on a smartphone, which was my customary practise until recently. This $24 purchase will enable me to write much more worthwhile content while allowing me to get some sleep. which i intend to do right now.

Hope you are enjoying your spring! I have a potently fragrant apple tree blossoming right outside the open window and a whipporwhil singing in the woods! I feel like a gazillionaire.
