What if....

The American Dream was Never REAL?

I am an order follower. At a young age I remember being told that I MUST go 5 days a week to a nearby work camp.

Don't get me wrong it was not all that bad, they would send a yellow bus out to take me away to the nearest indoctrination center, where I was told EXACTLY WHAT and How to THINK, so I did as I was told. There, I was thouroghly BRAINWASHED to PLEDGE allegiance to A FLAG?

I was very young, like I said 6 or 7 maybe, anyway I was ORDERED to recite this pledge EVERY morning. So I did it. I was told when I could use the bathroom. I was told when I could speak or not, if I did NOT listen, they would send me away.

I remember as I neared being a senior in the center, they told me that I would need to go back, to another, MORE EXPENSIVE indoctrination center just 4 more years they said, so I went. This indoctrination center was expensive and I did not have money to pay for it, so they told me to take a loan, so I did.

Eventually I escaped the facility, it took me almost six years and I was very happy to be out! I was then told that I had to get a Job , so I did. I got my first paycheck and was surprised that not all MY money was there. They told me that those are taxes and we all must pay taxes, so I did.

And I worked and I worked and I worked. All around me was stress, misery, greed, corruption, lying and more. But I did my work, as I was told.

GREED
Years went by. I grew older and continued to do as I was told by my BOSS, the government, by the police, by the T.V. by my freinds and family. Get this license. Dress this way. Don't talk about politics this, don't talk religon that. Make LOTS of money. I repeat MAKE LOTS of MONEY. Drive this car. Don't express your feelings. Work Harder. I followed all my orders usually, I tried.

One day, after over 20 YEARS of following orders and going to WORK as I was told I must, I asked myself, WHY?
