Chapter 1
I am the first son of my parents and I come from a middle class background. My parents could comfortably provide I and my siblings with our needs to the best of their capacity. I finished my final exam in the university a few months ago and It was mandatory for every student to go for a programme called National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in another state other than his state of origin.
I waited for weeks until a list indicating where I was posted was released and I was posted to Borno State, which was in the North Eastern part of the country. Recently, the North East had been in a state emergency due to criminal activities ravaging the region and going there meant my life was about to change drastically...................
