Photos from the Neva embankment.
Hi there! Recently I went to St. Petersburg. And today I want to share with you more impressions about this trip. If you are traveling to this city, you should definitely visit the Neva embankment. From it and from the bridges across the river are beautiful views.
The Liteyny Bridge (Russian: Лите́йный мост) is the second permanent bridge across the Neva river in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It connects Liteyny Prospekt with Vyborgsky district. The bridge's length is 396 meters, the width is 34 meters. At the vicinity of the Liteyny Bridge, the Neva river reaches the maximum depth of 24 meters.
The name of the bridge comes from the Liteyny yard (Foundry), which was on the left bank of the river. In 1879, when the permanent bridge was opened, it was called the bridge of Emperor Alexander II. The name quickly declined to the Alexander Bridge, and after 1917 it disappeared altogether, and did not oust the original name.
View from the Liteyny bridge. In these photos you can see the Peter and Paul Fortress.
The fortress was laid down on May 16 (27), 1703 according to the joint plan of Peter I and French engineer Lambert: 6 bastions joined by curtains, 2 ravelins, crownworks (originally wood-earth, 1730s-1740s and 1780s dressed stone). In 1703 the Hare Island was connected to the Petrograd side by the Ioannovsky Bridge. In 1704, with the construction of Fort Kronslot fortress was provided with additional protection.
In the photos below you can see the cruiser Aurora.
A few more photos from the embankment. Some of them are visible Smolny Convent or Smolny Convent of the Resurrection (Voskresensky).
There are a lot of sights in St. Petersburg. Later I will write about some of them)
