When I first came to Pushkar, Rajasthan - a holy place for Hindus, I felt like home. It was so quiet, joyful & peaceful place that I stayed there almost for a month. The only "noise" I was hearing were the mantras & chants coming from numerous ashram around the city. Few days after I came there, this guy approached me in the middle of the street with all the tools needed to repair shoes & simply just asked me if I want him to repair my shoes... It was a really strange & unusual approach but effective one! My friend advised me to use his services so we agreed that 5 five days before I go, he will repair my shoes... & so it was! In the center of Pushkar we sat down, I took off my shoes, ordered masala chai from the nearest chai shop & rolled a fine charas. In less than an hour the work was done & I didn't even pay much, maybe 350 INR, including a tip! I still wear those shoes & it was 4 years ago (all together I'm wearing them for more than 6 years)!
