Old and Forgotten

The Little Boy and the Old Man

Said the little boy, “Sometimes I drop my spoon.”
Said the old man, “I do that too.”
The little boy whispered, “I wet my pants.”
“I do that too,” laughed the little old man.
Said the little boy, “I often cry.”
The old man nodded, “So do I.”
“But worst of all,” said the boy, “it seems
Grown-ups don't pay attention to me.”
And he felt the warmth of a wrinkled old hand.
“I know what you mean,”said the little old man.

Young people are running around and chasing their dreams... almost unaware that with every day they spend they are closer to an old age. Where ever I went I noticed at least one lonely old person.
They usually sit or walk alone with a sad and distant expression on their face. Why do we keep forgetting or ignoring them? Do we want their loneliness for ourselves at that age?

That made me to take this series of photos... I can call it Old and Forgotten because that is almost the fact, the older you get more invisible you become.

“I'm growing fonder of my staff;
I'm growing dimmer in my eyes;
I'm growing fainter in my laugh;
I'm growing deeper in my sighs;
I'm growing careless of my dress;
I'm growing frugal of my gold;
I'm growing wise; I'm growing--yes,--
I'm growing old.”

― John Godfrey Saxe

“I dread no more the first white in my hair,
Or even age itself, the easy shoe,
The cane, the wrinkled hands, the special chair:
Time, doing this to me, may alter too
My anguish, into something I can bear”

― Edna St. Vincent Millay

That's a wonderful post with beautiful photos and some excellent quotes to put it all into perspective. (I particularly like the one by Garcia Marquez.) Thanks!

Thank you!

Wow this gave me goosebumps - resteeming

Thank you kindly!

This is made from heart with emotions. Beautiful photos and nice poetry connected with it. There is no such love like grandma's or grandpa's. We usually don't pay too much attention to older ones but the truth is that they're polished diamonds full of wisdom. Have a good day @tonac :)

Thank you for those nice words! Yes they really are diamonds!
