When we travel, we love getting away from the crowds and discovering hidden corners of the towns we’re visiting. The photo above was taken in one of such places, where barely anyone disturbs the placid feel of this neighborhood. Capturing this scene felt almost like painting a picture - you know nothing will disturb you and you can take all the time in the world to do it right.
As the title says, this is a street in Arles, a town in southern France. It has a rich culture and dates back to ancient history when Romans ruled this land. There are many landmarks around Arles that still stand as witnesses to the time passed and make this town a historic gem.
This is as if there’s a curfew! In Bangkok, when the streets are like this, it means a curfew or some kind of military operation soon!

Fortunately, everything was fine :) It seems that people of Arles stay at home during the late afternoons on workdays or simply stroll around some more popular areas.

I know exactly what you mean. When we were in Switzerland over New Years, we visited a town called Rapperswil on a day when the majority of the country was enjoying a national holiday so all the shops were closed and there wasn't really anything going on. We practically had the town to ourselves! It was amazing.

Sounds like it was a perfect day to explore! Speaking of New Years, we were in Malta at the time and expected it to be deserted on January the 1st but the streets were everything but empty. Guess it depends on the country and the traditions...
