The first ever seminar about Student Trafficking has been successfully done at Eminence College, Uttara, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The seminar was hosted by Migrant88 and in collaboration with Bangladeshi Students’ Organization Malaysia (BSOM), R.AGE & Eminence College.
The Chief Guest of the event was Prof. Dr. Mia Enamul Hoq Siddique, Member of National Curriculum & Textbook Board; and the Guest of Honour was Prof. Dr. Shamsuddin Ahmed, Director of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell, Eminence College & Squadron Leader (Retd.), Special Guest of the event was HM Akhter Khan, Principal of Eminence College.
The keynote speaker for the seminar was Khadijah Shamsul, Country Director of Migrant88 Malaysia; together with panel speakers such as ZR Zia (myself), President of BSOM; Elroi Yee, Lead Journalist of R.AGE for Student/Trafficking Documentary; Zahid Rahman, Country Director of Migrant88 Bangladesh & Omar Faruk, a survivor under Bangladesh study abroad scam.
The purpose of this seminar is three-pronged:
- To alert the public on the predatory policies of agents in Bangladesh and exploitative methods used by visa collages – with business models designed to gain maximum value at no regards for the interests of the potential migrants.
- To create pressure and scrutiny on the ‘Bangladesh Study Abroad Industry’.
- To source possible ways for the Government of Bangladesh to create policies to improve the situation.
I wasn't aware of this until now. I knew that college was a racket in the west, but I hadn't realized it was also a scam elsewhere in the world.

Thank you for your comment and for resteem it. Appreciate it.
I was working last 7/8 months against student trafficking with some Malaysian media and with NGO. I’m studying at UCSI University, Malaysia. In Malaysia, we have almost 50,000 Bangladeshi Students but only 10,000 students are studying. Rest of the students somehow got cheated by agents or colleges. That’s why we conducted this seminar in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Do they just target Bangladeshis, or is it others as well?
