Argentina’s navy says a sound detected during the search for a missing submarine was most likely caused by an explosion. A Navy spokesperson said Nov. 23 evidence showed, “an anomalous event that was a singular, short, violent and non-nuclear that was consistent with an explosion.” Family members were told all 44 members abroad the submarine that went missing last week are believed to be dead. Relatives of the crew that gathered at the Mar del Planta Navy base in Buenos Aires province broke into tears after they received the news, U.S. and specialty agency said what they believed to be an explosion happened just hours after communication was lost with the submarine. The sound originated about 30 miles from the submarine’s last registered point. The cause of the explosion is unknown and the search for the mission submarine continues.
