Are you depressed and unsuccessful online? Then Join Steemit communities /Contests

in success •  7 years ago  (edited)

There are a lot of whining and frustration due to lack of success on steemit (online in general  and offline). The good news, however, is that steemit encourages community building which is one of the uniqueness of this amazing platform.

According to Wikipedia , Community is a small or large social unit (a group of people) who have something in common, such as Norm  (social)|norms]],  religion, values, or identity.

 Some advantages :

  1. Knowledge: The chance to learn from one another and thus share information.
  2. Connections: through prudent networking, you will improve your chance to success and meet more like-minded people.
  3. Inspiration: The diversity of opinion, ideas and knowledge that you will never encounter alone-  example,  solution to a problem.
  4. Resources: It is impossible to know and do everything yourself (no matter how smart you maybe) therefore community will help you find people with skills that are needed to help you succeed.
  5. Support: Being able to have a community to rely on in time of distress is very helpful-especially if you join the right one.

@blueorgy I am sure that you are involved in some steemit community building here at steemit, which one do you thing will add more value to steemians in terms of getting more post views? plus adding value to those in need of success, thanks.

Hi @charles1, I see you have mentioned me.
This is automatic response so that I may respond to your mention later.

Usually there are 2 reasons for not having success.
You dont like what youre not doing, not passionate about it.
You dont want it enough to leave the comfort zone

Good points, I agree with you

Thanks for the mention, great post - contests are an easy way also to get started for newbies that are just not aware what to post sometimes :-)

Good point @uwelang I agree with you and thanks for your great work here and support. Schöne Wochenende.

Danke und gerne - happy Weekend

Bitte schön

Great post my friend , thanks so much for the mention , community is key to success ! I was the first one to complete the community challenge which I also received a badge for from @merej99 which is in my collage . Your conclusion is spot on , great work , keep it up ! Upped and resteemed !!💕✌👍✌👍💕
Steemit , One Big Happy Family !!

You are welcome Karen and keep up the good work and great yummy foods. More success to you, upped.

Thanks !💕✌👍

You are welcome

Prudent voting and commenting is the key. There's a temptation to follow everyone and comment on everything in a desperate attempt to leapfrog your account into the success bracket rather than laying some good, strong foundations first.

What a lot of people forget is that worthwhile followers will look over your blog to see if your content is any good or if the post that raised their interested was just a one-hit-wonder. If you've not worked hard and built up a good portfolio of posts only bots and people begging you for follow-backs and upvotes are likely to follow you.

You said it all @dickturpin ..an amazing comment indeed , upped and following you. You are correct . I noticed some members with large following however I noticed that the people are mostly folowing from 20K people meaning that it is a F4F scheme. I agree with your comment, thanks.

I'm not sure there's any hard and fast rule to get success and the other question, of course, is "What 'is' being a success on Steemit?" Is it an account that has thousands of dollars? Or millions of SP? Is it 100% reputation or four trillion followers?

For me, I'd like a high reputation and a high amount of SP so that my votes really make a difference to people. I suppose ultimately I'd like a good, strong, circle of Steemit friends that are not only supportive of me and the group we are in but for the whole Steemit community at large.

Oh god, I sound like Jono Bacon. CC: @steevc :-D

Good point, steem power is the key plus good reputation and real followers.

You've clearly described my thoughts on this.

I followed you if that helps? :-)

Thanks Peter. Good to connect with another Linux advocate!

Just don't ever say "Is this the year of the Linux desktop?" you'll be dead to me. Bwahahaha

Wow! You just put down in writing what goes on in many of our heads, I'm sure..

I repeat dickturpin's words, 'lay some good, strong foundations first'!

Joining the right community can really make a difference.

you are right

I agree, thanks for your comment

Thank you, @charles1. Looking at hundreds of dollars at 'trending' pages and getting cents is a little sad :) Nice you care about Steemit newcomers like myself.

If I may add something from my very short experience here. Your list of communities will be very helpful for many but not for everybody. Even then I think they still can find or build a community simply writing comments under posts with their favorite subject.

If you really like something you will know what to write, what to ask, how to engage others. Some authors will answer you. And that way you begin.

Good point, hence why I indicated many communities in order for you to make a choice. As a new member, see my older posts plus this particular one https://steemit.com/steemit/@charles1/stop-whining-here-are-way-to-improve-your-earnings-on-steemit which will guide you on what to do..success

I'm In agreement with the components mentioned here for success. I'm also DEFINITELY a believer in being with the right groups of people off the platform on other social media. You know my deal with steemit dreamit fb group and originality, organic followings, etc. All very important.

Furthermore, if you are making ANYTHING on this platform no matter how "miniscule " you think it might be, stop with the whining right now!! Steemit didn't didnt employ you so be grateful. Take a step back, learn from others.... curate thoughtfully

wow, I agree with you. I just updated the post now with more infos, thanks for your comment.

Cool! Always happy to contribute

You are welcome

There are a few discord channels you mentioned that I was not aware of. Steemit 101 sounds like a nice tool to recommend. Brilliant work as always @charles1.

Thanks, I just updated the post now with more infos, thanks for your comment.

Great post @charles1! A very helpful article for anyone feeling the 'Steemit blues'! I agree, the way to get the most from Steemit is through community - showing interest in other's blogs, getting involved in contests, putting aside ego and adopting an attitude that says "I can learn from you just as much as you can learn from me". I suppose if your focus is only on rewards you will constantly be disappointed, but if focus is more about supporting each other and meeting like-souls, then we will find ourselves rich!

A very good comment , you are indeed a woman on the wing!!! I wish you a blessed weekend and agree with your view point.

Aw that's so nice of you, thank you! I wish you a great weekend too! ;-)

Same here. More success.

Interesting. I just posted my first post today. I'll be checking out your recommendations.

you are welcome, make sure that you go through my new and older posts for tips on how to be successful here. I wish you success

steemit is certainly a uniquely addictive platform, for all its still relatively basic beta functions..I've been very busy these past weeks, but still drawn to and think about steemit while I go about my daily activities loll!!!

I'm sure it's the same for you, @charles1!

Hahaha you are correct, I am addicted to steemit and love it....at least I earn and learn something from the platform unlike other social media

Very true..as you just highlighted in your most recent article :))

Hahaha, guess you like it a lot here too. Success.

I do indeed..may not be as successful monetary-wise as you, but I find writing my articles fulfilling on multiple levels..the contests are pretty fun to join too (you don't get that on a normal blogging platform I think) :)

You are successful my dear one

Thank you =)

welcome

Good to know that you share my thought, though i may be new to steemit , but i intend on building a community too who aims at being successful . you can check out my lastest post , has a mutual reasoning with yours too....

You ahe a lot to learn in order to be successful here..go through my older blog posts including this one

Great post!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for mentioning!

You are welcome and thanks for your good work here.

What a great collection of contests, I try to do a couple of posts a week on competitions that accept poetry. Community and getting to know the people behind the posts is most definitely the best part of steemit.

Great , glad that you liked it and that it is valuable for you. Feel free to resteem in order for others to benefit. Thanks for your comment.
