J.K.Rowling:

J.K Rowling is the author of the Harry Potter series which consists of 7 books. The series has sold more than 400 million copies worldwide which makes it the best selling series in it's genre.

Which later got adopted into a series of highest-grossing films.

Her success is very astounding because when you look at her backstory, she was still living on welfare when she submitted the manuscript for her first book harry potter and the philosopher's stone. She then became the first author in history to have earned 1 billion dollars from writing books (according to Forbes).
So, the question is, how did she manage to climb out of poverty and reach the top of the literary world?
There are many factors, of course, but here is one that I believe played a huge role in her success and that is that when bad things happened in her life, she saw it as an opportunity to improve and took it as her responsibility to do something about it.
