Growing haworthias - Reticulated plants

in succulents •  7 years ago

While some Haworthia species have windows and clear patches, others have darker, chain-shaped patterns, called reticulations within their leaves and they are also attractive and easy to grow. Some of them belong to the species Reticulata and others to the species Marumiana: these can have either retuse or recurved leaves, "recurved" means curving back towards the stem.

This one is Haworthia Reticulata var Hurlinghii - it has little round windows in chain patterns

Haworthia Reticulata var Reddi also has translucent tips and edges as well as the darker chain-patterning. Sometimes, the reticulations are more subtle, as with this one:

There are a number of species of Haworthia Marumiana, which have the same type of reticulate patterning

This last one is Haworthia Marumiana var batesiana, which grows in big clumps and prefers to be kept in shadier conditions. I had it outside but it started looking miserable and it's much happier in my bathroom, which is sunny, but only in the morning. All of the others didn't mind being outside in sunnier conditions. Succulents don't always like huge amounts of sun, that is the biggest mistake that many people make with growing them

These are beautiful and would LOOK great in a glass bowl with gravel and stone they would look fantastic.

They are kind of like cute little pets, instead of just plants.
This is a photo of a succulent we've had for about 9 years, indoors. It seems to like darker conditions more than light. It's not looking the healthiest at the moment because of the cooler weather. But we are rather attached to it, and I think it has personality. Any idea what kind of succulent it might be, if it is one?

It's a Sanseveria of some kind and yes, it is a succulent and a shade-lover. You have figured out what it likes in the last 9 years

Hahaha, it only took 9 years, i'm a quick learner. Thanks for letting me know what it is.

Actually, not many people can manage to keep a potplant alive for 9 years. They are easy but too much sun will kill them

Oh, well i've done ok considering I knew nothing about it. Thankyou.

I have this Sanseveria :-)

You always have such exotic plants. They are very original.

This plant is extraordinary and unique. I heard from people that this plant has the benefit of this plant can thicken hair and make black hair.
I like your photos.
Have a good day @nikv

I felt like taking these pots of flower home.

Very beautiful Haworthia!
