Australia, winter summer

It is the most suitable destination for those who want to discover interesting cities and unspoilt nature.

A country of 23 million inhabitants (more or less one third of the Italian population), in an area that is about 25 times our peninsula: this is Australia. Those who have a desire for warmth (summer starts just before Christmas!) and to discover landscapes and situations different from ours, have only to choose what to prefer in their holiday: in the space of a few days you can only know a small part of what the great country offers. We can start from Perth, on the south-west coast, where in December temperatures are around 35-40 degrees. Kings Park, with a botanical garden among dozens of plants of all kinds, is the perfect place to take a pleasant walk and maybe a picnic with beautiful views of the skyscrapers of the city centre and the Swan River. Fremantle, built in European style, is perhaps one of the most famous areas of the city, with a weekly market set up every week, where you can find everything, as well as beautiful wooden boomerang. In Heirisson Island, only a twenty minute walk from the centre, you can admire the kangaroos in freedom; but all the beaches of the city, overlooking the Indian Ocean, are very little equipped and therefore even more beautiful.

Those who have time and desire can go as far as Rottnest Island, an island about 18 km from the coast, reachable by ferry, travelled by public transport that allows you to move from one beach to another. In addition to the seabed, the island's famous quokka, the docil ultra-kangaroo tops, are also an attraction. To the south of Perth there are the famous Margaret River and Kerry Forest vineyards, to the north there are other beaches, from Jurien Bay to Coral Bay; while in the city centre the younger, more animated and full of bars and shops are Northbridge and Perth CBD. Don't miss a visit to Ayers Rock, Uluru for the Australian Aboriginal people; the sandstone monolith rises in a sacred place, more or less in the heart of Australia, which has now become national par- co; it rises for about 350 metres in the middle of a completely flat territory and is visible from tens of kilometres away. Its red colour changes from ochre to gold, bronze to purple, depending on the season and time of day. If from a distance its surface may seem smooth and smooth, as you approach you can glimpse springs and pools, caves, protrusions and signs of the passage of man, such as paintings and engravings. Uluru is one of the most visited places in Australia; and many are engaged in its ascent, which still requires attention and a minimum of physical-athletic preparation. Yulara is the nearest centre, equipped for welcoming visitors.

Ayers Rock could be an intermediate stopover towards Sydney. The most famous of the Australian cities is a metropolis of almost 5 million inhabitants, on the south-east coast. Cosmopolitan, multiracial, with diverse immigrant communities that have integrated over the years, Sydney enjoys a sunny Mediterranean climate all year round. Summers (our winters) are very hot and winters (our summers) mild. Rich in surf beaches, nestled in a shimmering natural bay, it is considered one of the wonders of modernity, a place that cannot be missed in the travel notebooks or more simply in the memories of the hardest travelers. From a botanical garden, you reach Mrs. Macquarie Chair, a rocky spike from where you can enjoy a glimpse of Sydney Bay, including the spectacular Opera House: with its structure the theatre recalls the sails of a vessel and is one of Australia's landmark buildings. Another symbol of the city is the Harbour Bridge, the steel bridge that connects the port to the north coast of the city: you can climb up to its summit and admire the city from above. The neighborhoods to visit are The Rocks, where the detainees were disembarked from the Old Continent, considered the historic center of Sydney, with narrow cobbled streets and stone houses and cottages; and Darling Harbour, a pedestrian zone along Port Jackson Bay created in the late 1980s, which pulsates with night and daytime activities and is an area full of shops, restaurants and leisure activities.

How to get there

To avoid paying too much, the sooner you buy a plane ticket, the better. Many companies stop off in the main Australian cities: Emirates, Australia's Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Qatar. Visa is required to enter Australia. There are many different types of tourism; the tourist one, valid for three months, is the eVisitor Visa;
