Experts believe that this can happen in the near future.

Scientists from the University of California at San Diego came to the conclusion that in the middle of the 21st century a great minimum of solar activity will begin, resulting in less heat coming to Earth.

The official press release of the researchers is available on the website of Phys.org .

Analyzing data collected over 20 years of observations using the International Ultraviolet Explorer, the specialists came to the conclusion that the decrease in the activity of stars can be determined from the frequency of sunspot formation.

Researchers believe that the probability of a great solar minimum in the foreseeable future is quite high. However, the global cooling that will occur on Earth will not be sufficient to compensate for the temperature increase due to the emission of greenhouse gases.
